No, seriously, this summer is clearly proving all around the country the threat of the depletion of our ozone layer. One study suggested that if life continues exactly the way it is currently and nothing is done, Earth will be "unlivable" in 30 years. By "unlivable," it means that the cancer rate will be extremely high and much of the population will be wiped out.

I'm sorry if this post was so pessimistic sounding, but the movie The Day After Tomorrow seems to almost be turning into reality now. I have a friend that has the nerve to say he doesn't believe that global warming exists and he has evidence to disprove it. I'm sorry, but no evidence is going to disprove weather charts and multiple studies to me, ESPECIALLY with how everyone can obviously see how weather patterns are changing.

Another study suggests that the ozone could not completely heal itself until 2068, and that's most likely assuming that it starts healing now, which doesn't seem likely since conditions are only becoming worse.

So... what can we do? The end of the world is as inevitable as www.endoftheworld.com puts it. There's no stopping it, but we can still work together to maximize the lifespan of the Earth, so that there may be generations to come. Personally, if nothing is done, I wouldn't want to put children/grandchildren/etc in this situation.

Alternative fuel sources are pretty much one of the most needed things right now, although there haven't yet been any discovered to replace the ones we use every day. So, do we continue this way until we find one? That question was rhetorical. If you've read this post at all, you'd realize I'm thinking no, but I have no control over everyone, only my humble input. I have no solution to what will become of mass transit if we stop using these fuels. Please understand this post is merely meant to be informative and not some kind of godsend.

Feel as you will on this subject. I just wanted to let everyone that I think society as a whole needs to take action.

You know how we have ice ages and stuff?  Yeah, this is the other peak.  Its the natural cycle of the earth, at least thats what I think.

So you think pollutants are having no effect? That even though there are an estimated 1000 more cars on the road every day, and we are burning up natural resources faster than ever and creating the greenhouse effect, everthing is natural? It's good to be optomistic, so I'd hope you're right.

Blame Hummer and their gas guzzling, smog belching tanks. A car is no longer a car when it takes up a full lane.

My mom said she hates movies like the day after tomorrow, because everytime they make it something close to it actually happens. Right now I think we're finally leaving the ice age. I forgot the info, but a while back I did a research report on the ice age and apparently we were in a mini-ice age. Does anyone know?

As for the cars, they're bringing in the smart cars (even tho it's already here) from Japan or so. Basically it runs on electricity. My dad said they don't really use them out here because it's hard to find a charger. So.. what's the point??

Ice ages last for thousands of years. Even if we are in a mini one right now. The change out of it would be really gradual. The average tempreture would change one degree maybe for every decade. This is just a bad heat wave.

I don't really mind the heat, I have an air conditioner :) However, when I'm stuck working outside for 9 hours pushing carts, it really sucks. The pavement makes it seem even hotter :(

It seems though that its starting to cool down a bit now. Yesterday in Wisconsin, it was only 85 or so, today it seemed even cooler.

I hate when people reminds me we're all going to die in just a couple of years. Unlike you I have faith in our world, but very little faith.
I don't want to die.  :(

You are aware they already have a fuel hybrid that could solve these problems? The problem is that oil companies won't allow this to be used whilst they are getting billions. Its call HHO (hybrid hydrogen oxygen) and it is mixed with petrol and can run a car perfectly. As WATER is the main ingredient, it is cheaper and also very environmentally friendly, as no polluntants are let out.

100 + (37 degrees celsius) is what we usually get in summer. In a summer (slitghy worse) for us, we get temps that average 35 degress (95 degrees fahrenheit). We've had heaps of days over 40 degrees celsius (104 degrees fahrenheit).

Atm its winter, and the weather is ****.

Gobal warming. -_- As I've probably already said before, volcanoes shoot out more pollutants into the air when they erupt than what we put into the air in approximately 5 years. And the earth fixes itself after they happen, so if we're doing anything, it's not much. Any of the unusual weather "phenomana" is just the earth's cycle. If you were to look back like 20 or so years ago, it probably happened then too. As for the heat, just a heatwave. For me it's already back down to high 70s and mid 80s again. A week of hot and humid weather, with some storms thrown in doesn't mean OMG GLOBAL WARMING.

And it's 2012, not 2036. So if you have anything that you want to accomplish during your lifetime, ya got 6 years. ;)

bad weather in Kansas, mainly consists of tornados and freaking annoying severe thrunderstorms that today wipe out my pc half the time...I also had it plugged into a surge protecter :/ go figure it failed..

Tornados are getting worse as the years go by, we are in Tornado season now, and every storm we get makes me wounder if one will touch down on my house.

LOL, so far I am lucky, but not so many were lucky when that tornado took out a school somewhere near my city. Poor kids, was in session too :/

Hot temps also an issue here.

Highest it got was a record 105* which was like 5 days ago or something. The humidity is also high here, so it sucks, I want to move to Oregan where the sun shines but the air is clean and not so hot.
