Not fast enough to affect a single war. It's not like the earth twitches and we go full frontal.

World War III will happen, within the next 10 years most likely.
I forget who said it, but there is a quote "I'm not sure how world war III will be fought, but world war IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

Yeah, and people also said that World War One would be the war to end all wars... yeah....

World War III will probably eventually happen, but it'll just be another war.  Regardless of all the doomsday predictions, most countries are smart enough to avoid nuclear holocaust and what not.  Even little ol Kim.

Speaking of Kim, did you know he has a huge flair for the theatric and dramatic?  When Madelyn albrite visited him in N.Korea he directed a performance in her honor, like, song and dance kind of performance...

To clear up a few things...

1) Economic sanctions are effectively refusing to buy or sell with a country. A lot people make fun of sanctions as a weak "slap on the wrist" type way of punishing an offense, but in reality and with the world a global market, lots of people being unwilling to trade with your country is a pretty big deal.

2) China is annoyed by North Korea because they know that if the N. Koreans ever get scared, they'll be flooding into China as refugees. China is already having a tough time supporting its current population; too many newcomers and their economy would be very horribly strained.

And yeah, it is pretty scary stuff. Of course, we've known they have been working on nuclear weaons for, what, 12 years now? But now they're making a big show of it. Let's all hope Kim Jong isn't as crazy as he looks.

World War 3 won't be another regular war, it will be nuclear. That's pretty much guaranteed, and it's scary. That's why America is terrorizing other countries. Because we'll die if they don't.

This is actually a big reason why North Korea has been able to get this far - China is very wary of supporting anything more than a symbollic punishment because they will get screwed with the refugees.

One of the interesting things to note is that analysts have studied the data from the first test and many have been reporting that the measurements match up with a dud, not a successful test.

North Korea is flooded with propaganda for their leader. Many of the people who support their leader in that country are not scared of him - rather, they have been told all their lives that he is totally sweet, and have no reason to not believe it - they have no reference point for a non-crazy leader.

Heh, me Weregnome and Jawzz have been making North Korea jokes all day.

In the vein of "Hey, what's that sound?"
"Oh, it's just North Korea nuking us."

Good times.

Like the Cold War? Which worked out good, seeing as we're still alive.

My bet is that Iran is borrowing the tech from NK, so they're probably in league with each other. Two countries with nukes is a whole lot worse than one, but I don't think it'll start WW3 or anything.

Speaking of which, Shady, I said the WW4 will be fought with sticks quote. Got it from somewhere, but don't remember where.
