See Razor, the point is that breaking the fourth wall and randomness is funny. So is the awkward silence in the fourth panel.

 To make it unfunny, it's only a matter to add more trivial answers.

 "Why would be dark if it's daylight outside?"
 "Why, I guess we forgot to open the windows."
 "Oh, well, that was a waste of time going to buy the lightbulb then."
