I just wish Square'd make a game based on the KH system and premise, but targeted towards older gamers like myself.

*cough*Final Fantasy XIII/FFVSXIII*cough*

Aw damn, *cough*Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Wii*cough*

Those games seem to be majorly inspired by the KH team. And I belive that it might just be the future face of our dear friends Square-Enix.

I don't have a PS3 and will not get one until the price drops to something I can afford. Also, I'm not a huge fan of wii.....

Also, Ultima: Yeah, I meant a graphics overhaul and a different cast. The story was great, the Disney bit not so much.

I disagree with Almeida, but Zelda's stories are usually simpler than Final Fantasy. I prefer the zelda series though, because the FF battle system really bores the hell out of me.

FF7 sucked. You're just a generic anime character (Cloud) who follows after a generic anime villain (Sephiroth) with generic goals and ultimately defeat him in a generic fashion. Character development was minimal, and the only redeeming quality about the game was the extra crap to do afterwards. The fact that FF7 spawned tons of crappy sequels and prequels just hurts its credibility more.

KH1 was good, KH2 was fanservice.

FF10 was poor because of the immense linearity. Unlike previous games which were expansive and rich with other things to do, FF10 was limited to just a few small sidequests with no real reward. At least in other games, the sidequests revealed game lore or side elements to the story. Also, Emo Tidus "Waah Waah I hate my dad! I have no character development!" Also fails because it spawned that shithole game called FFX-2.

FF8 was decent up until the Ultimecia plot twist without any scene or anything, just a black screen with text. At least Squall has character development.

The Pokemon series has sucked from all games after GSC. At least in GSC there was lots to do after beating the elite four. (Like fighting Red's Pikachu) They should do a complete revamp of the series rather than rehash.

I think I'll stop trashing your poor taste in games for now. I have a final to study for.

Also, Zelda needs more MM style games that don't involve saving Zelda.

EDIT: Best RPG That I've played is FF9, not counting Tactics games, though.

Agree
I like KH2 a bit more, they fixed the battle system, and the story is a bit deeper.
Agree, MM was awesome.

Well, Pokemon Emerald added the Battle Frontier and that's way more challenging than Red in GSC.
And the revamps of RBY added 1-7 island with more story and trainers as well as some battle towers.

And twilight princess wasn't really save the princess since well... She goes *poof*, it's more like a sequel, lacked all those cool sidequests that Ocarina of time and MM had though.

Both KH was great since they were different from other games. DMC was great as well but the camera was quite annoying from time to time.

But is Zelda an RPG? I don't know if it really fits as one.

Zelda is primarily an adventure game, but it does have elements from the roleplaying system.

Haha, calm my Brazilian ignoramus brother. If it's a competition on being emo the FF series takes the cake.

yes, initally the Zelda series were considered an RPG (espcially the GB games), however yes, its more adventure now than ever.

I felt the pokemon series went down on Crystal. Dunno, since they're started to move it wasn't the same =/, however I still enjoy them from time to time.

I despise both KH games, however I liked KH2 more. I think it was funner overall, and I sure loved beating the hell out of sephy's gay ***.

Majoras Mask was a'ight, i disliked wind waker the most though. And my favorite after OoT is  the Oracle games.

*sigh* I have no idea how people take the characters of final fantasy and think emo. (except squall, he was a true emo.) What they do is try and make  a story that people could relate to. I mean, damn, take FFX for example. How the hell would you react when you find out that a girl you had gotten close to, one of the only people that had shown you any compasion since entering this new world, was basically sentenced to death just to save their world. I think you just might be alittle shaken up about it.

And as for FF8 goes, Squall really has no reason to be so damn sad or pissed. I mean, when you play the story, the only thing you can think of is: "why the hell is this guy so pissed at the world? What wrong has done him?"

And for those who don't enjoy the FF series, try every game before you generalize everyone of them. Each game has a different story, a different character customization system (sometimes), and different character styles. 12 had a disapointing story, but other elements of the game sorta made up for it. I'm one of those people who perfer the ATB gauges, but some liked the new style.

And FF7...
****, ok, Cloud and Sephiroth were emo, but they had their own reasons. You see, being emo means being emotional for no damn reason. Every character in each of the final fantasy games had a reason for having the attitude they did. (Ex. Squall. Sorry FF8 fans)

I'm not saying that FF8 was a bad game, but there was a lot to be desired with the character attitude design. Zell just pissed me off with how damn cocky his was, for no reason as well. I think a pre-history of each character, more then what they put into the game, (Such as, when they first entered Garden) so we can get to know the characters alittle bit better. Then we might know why Squall is so damn emo, and why Zell is so ****ing cocky. I gotta say, I would hate a person who just came up to me and said "I think i'm better then you.I can kill more monsters then you can." And a person that would say, "...Leave me alone, I don't need your help. I'm your team comander, but I wanna do everything myself..."

And there you have it. Flame away.

why do people need to debate this?
Its a post-your-favorite-rpg thread. Not a post-your-favorite-rpg and tell-everyone-else-why-they-like-the-wrong-games thread.
Sereeiously guys. Calm down.

I liked FF7. It was generic. But thats what made it good. They brought a familiar franchise into next generation gaming.

I Disliked Kingdom Hearts. But they did some sweet character revamping.

Right on Zeldas Box it says "Action RPG"
Phantom Hourglass is awesome.

I recently got the Fire Emblem for Wii. By no means the best game ive played. Very simple. But the battles are fun if youre into repetative games. Im enjoying it. Classic controller for the win.

Another good action RPG was Landstalker for the sega genesis. Ive got it on my virtual console.

Fixed.

I dunno, I kinda like the reasons why people don't like games as much as the reasons that they do. What's a world without conflict, hmm?

I agree with Darrellito though, everyone has a point when they say some FF characters were a bit emo, but it's a bit mad for those same people to say that Squall was the best character ever. I found myself getting really annoyed at how depressed he was the whole time.

There's been plenty of happy main FF characters anyhow. Burtz, Zidane, Locke and Vaan were pretty happy chappies for most of their games.

I kind of liked Squall. In a lot of ways he was like Cloud. They just had to make him more serious and lost so they wouldn't get accused of the same character twice. I will admit that he lacks real motivation for what he does. The only scene I remember that can explain it would be him as a kid in the orphanage. He was a fat and dorky kid who had a lot of trouble opening up to people. The only real friend he made was whatshername, the girl with the blue dress. After she took off Squall was alone. That would explain why he wanted the be the best student or the strongest, but it wouldn't explain some other stuff. I hated how he acted when Rinoa fell into a coma. He completely ignored her then immediately turned into prince charming, then turned back when she woke up. The ending was a big What The ****?

I feel like I'm talking about a soap opera.
