Notice of probable abscence
« on: November 06, 2009, 03:30:53 AM »
Yes, I may be gone, due to some major computer failure.
It runs for a few minutes, but reliably crashes after about 5 minutes.

Ta ta for now.

Darn, I had a computer that did that, turned out to be some kind of virus.

Running dozens of virus scans say "no" to that, unfortunately.
My personal thought is that it's a hardware malfunction, of the memory variety.
I recently tried running a 2g memory game...with one, which might have something to do with it.
Running in safe mode (as I am right now to back up some files to my portable drive) works fine, which slightly supports that theory (it will run out of memory much slower).

If it works fine in safe mode, there is no reason the problem cant be fixed.
Just wipe the bitch clean and reinstall your OS if it comes down to it

I'm planning on doing that sometime soon, I'm going to install Ubuntu, cause I likes it much more than Vista.
However, only running in safe mode is a major bummer, cause now I can't run GM or stuff like that due to lack of DX.
I'm getting some upgrades for the bastard soon though, so...yeah.
Might be fixed soon.

EDIT: I just reformatted a tower of mine, and am currently waiting on a wireless card for it so that I can actually use it while accessing the network.
That might take a while, cause I am pretty much dependent on my mother for all purchases.
****, I wish I had a job.

I had this once.
It turned out that it wasn't my computer, it was because of the amount of electricity it used upon start-up.

To fix this [80% sure] get a good surge protector.
