I've noticed this, and was wondering how to do it myself, but I noticed that he already had some of them animated so I figured he knew how to do it...

I loved the original Chrono Trigger. This looks pretty good for a fan-made game. Even if the battles revert the traditional (ON MAP) fights into more of a final fantasy style battle. Overall, you look like you're busting your *** on this project so I hope you finish it. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Due take note, once I finish the game and start editing, I do intend to completely remove random battles.

The project has been in production a while, and I hope you enjoy when it's released. :D

From what I saw in the vid, it seems all he did was split that monster into two graphics and then set one to flying.  (Which is a default feature in RPG Maker)

I may change it during the editing phase. Sadly, some of the CT sprites don't have a side facing sprite. D:

Anyway, here's some new gameplay footage. :D

I'm dissapointed in that. I know your using default everything for rpgmaker (which isn't a bad thing) and i'm really trying to accept that but for a Chrono Trigger game it bugs me so much.

Like the fact that the lightning attacks look nothing like they do in Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy monsters in battles.
I'm sorry i'm trying to accept this game for what it is but it's hard its like someone remaking or making a Xenogears 2 on rpgmaker.
Btw does Crono's blade color change and are the battles random encounter in the game?
I have to ask does Crono talk in the game?
To keep consistency I would hope not since he only talked once in the original.

Beta version, man. Beta. Not final. I have a ton of stuff I'm going to add when I finish the game and start editing.

Final Fantasy monsters? I spend a lot of time ripping CT monsters from their sprite sheets. I see Gilgamesh. That's it. Nearly every monster is ripped from CT. I don't know what you're talking about.

No, Crono's blade does not change colors. Why does that really matter? This isn't Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes. This is Chrono Alter. Not Chrono Trigger 2.

Crono has two or three lines. That's it.

Random battles are in the beta version, but won't be in the final version. You touch an enemy, you fight them.

I'm sorry this isn't a replica of Chrono Trigger in every way. I don't do ROM hacks. I'm using RPG Maker 2003, and the default stuff was what I wanted to begin with. If I can find the proper stuff, I'm going to re-animate a bunch of the animations, but if I can't, the default animations get the job done.

I'm sorry you don't like this idea. You don't have to play it if you don't want to. It won't hurt my feelings. If you've made a game before, you know how much work is involved.

If you want a Chrono game that replicates CT exactly, make it. I'd play it. Just don't complain when this isn't a replica of CT.

lol you spelled Chief, 'interdimensional' and Elixir wrong

Anyway, even though I can't make charsets for ****, I would like to help out with this (somehow). Maybe if you send me your script I could tweak things.

See if you can find a rip of the CT sound effects. The default ones are grating.

Why does Gilgamesh use emoticons? That ain't right...I guess it's a character quirk, but it's still really weird.

Gilgamesh's overworls sprite is shaded differently to the CT ones. You should try to keep them the same style.

I notice the portal flashes a bit, could you maybe edit the sheet so that this doesn't happen?

The character battle animations aren't as smooth as they could be. They just seem to flicker between two frames quite fast.

I have terrible spelling. I really wish RPG Maker had a spell check. >_<

Anyway, the sound effects shouldn't be too hard to find. I have a few of them. (Lavos' scream, Ozzie's laugh, etc).

I like the emoticons. D:
Anyway, Gilgamesh looks different because he's from the FF5 world. This is addressed in the dialogue that was covered by the fraps logo.

If you know a way to slow the battle animations, I'd like to hear it. I'm not sure if it's possible to slow them down.
