RM2k3 ship mapping

Not sure which forum this goes in, but I'd like a tutorial on how to map using the Ship chipset in RM2k3. The main problem I have is I have no idea which tiles go where, and I can't seem to find what tiles I'm looking for.
Sorry if this is a bit vague.

So far I have this:

But I can't for the life of me figure out where to go from there.
I realise I've probably used the railing wrong, too...

EDIT: How do I get a character on land to get on a boat? I put on the Enter Vehicle event, which apparently doesn't work if you're not on top of the vehicle, but I have no idea how you're supposed to do it.

Don't worry, I find the Ship chipset in the RTP to be profoundly confusing as well...

But most people don't use RTP that much anyway. The Complete Resources section, or maybe even First Seed Material, might have better, easier to use ship chips.

About entering the vehicle. It's possible that you can simply store the hero's coordinates and map id. Then move the boat event to the exact same spot(using the coordinates) and then have the command "enter vehicle"
Haven't tried it myself but it should work.
