Mac
« on: November 08, 2010, 02:11:55 AM »
I have a mac. I have a windows parallel wich is like having a mini windows os on my computer. Aside from the hundreds of weird quirky things it does, it works fine. However, as of windows 7 (which doens't make any sense) rm2k3 won't accept files that have been touched. I can only save them from a website. I thought about editing them and uploading them to photo bucket or something, but that doesn't seem to work either.

paint.net was my widnows 7 alternative to iDraw3, but NOW it all of a sudden decided to not install that one program. whenever i do it tells me some error message, whcih i looked up online, but as I do not speak geek-nerd-i work at intel- language, I got no where.

How am I expected to even compile graphics i generate on this website? and if i download from the complete resources, I get 1 charset taking up space for 8. I can't even compile those into one file.

what the hell am i supposed to do?

Must.... resist..... derogatory comment....

Anyway, your file access problem is most likely a permissions issue. In fact, 7 and Vista are both one big permissions issue. Try and see if you can figure out how to give yourself permission on the computer to modify those files.

Does this "geek-nerd" language involve using a DOS prompt? If so, get used to it if you intend on continuing using any form of Windows. A little extra work never killed anybody.

You can "compile" the charsets using any old image program. But, considering your other problem, I guess that's not an option, so I don't know what to tell you.

Is it possible that the emulator don't work fully as the real OS would work?
I haven't tried W7 yet but if it is anything like Vista there are tons of rules about things such as files on the desktop, making certain file types usable ect.

Yup. In much of my first post I left out the countless issues it has. But it's nothing to really do with the OS. I used iDraw3 forever so i never HAD to use paint until i switched to 7. At that point i learned that all the files produced or even edited in MS Paint fall into rm2k/3's bizarre issues with certain kinds of PNGs.

Oh that problem.

Get yourself Irfanview or any program like it.
Copy the file from MS paint and paste it into the program, decrease the colour depth to 255 and save it as an PNG.
It should let you import it and solve the problem.

I thought it was more of a "File won't even show up when I try to import it"

Another way of doing this is to copy the file and paste it into the project's resource folder. like Paste a charset and place it in the charset folder. A neat way of bypassing the import.
