 The desert thing is explained briefly in the game. apparently there was a nuclear war in the "not so distant future" (given the manga was written in the 80s I suppose we are already dead right now) and Kenshiro survived... because.

 Then he went and learned chinese martial arts... because.

 After that he's been traveling from land to land, first trying to find his fiancée (dead), then searching and killing each and every single one of his six brothers... because. They claim the brothers have got to kill each other since they all know the Hokuto No Ken style, but there is at least two of them who don't give a **** about fighting each other so I call bs on that.


 Also, yeah, whole "post-apocalyptic nuclear war world" is mostly an excuse for them to be able to destroy entire buildings without feeling guilty.

I played the demo, and once you get beyond the HOLY BARRELS OF WANGS I'M KENSHIRO THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER it's really just a Dynasty Warriors game.

If you like FotNS that much - and why shouldn't you, really - it's great, but gameplay-wise it's nothing new.
