Elder Scrolls

So apparently there's this new elder scrolls out in stores about now.

A lot of people are all hyped about it and a buddy of mine stayed up all night to play it as early as possible, seems like they've done a heck of a promotion job on this game at least.
I'm just wonder if anyone got it yet and is it pretty much just another elder scrolls game or did they actually change something?
My biggest concerns about Oblivion was the fact that I spent hours after hours doing slow side quests with ether bad or no rewards. And well, those large fieldy- places with 2 wolves and a boar.
And the city guards saw me stealing stuff when I were inside someone's basement in a quest and related guard problems.

So Skyrim, anything new?

btw: apparently the minecraft guy got sued by Bethesda for naming his next project "Scrolls", because it sounded to much like elder scrolls.

Yeah, that's way old news. Bethesda lost.

I want it, but have no money at the moment. I'm hoping it weels more expansive than oblivion because in Morrowind I could have an epic journey and end up miles from no-where and when I got back home I really felt like I had been through a lot.  In Oblivion I could walk and walk and go through several weather changes and fight hordes monsters and then turn around and I could still see the imperial city behind me >>

The best way to fix Oblivion's mistakes is just to make to take the few elements of Oblivion that were successful, then forget the game ever existed and continue on where Morrowind left off. Which is apparently what they've done.

I might get it. I actually enjoyed Oblivion, even if the points mentioned by Prpl_Mage were true.
So if Skyrim is even better, I don't see how I could not enjoy it.

The reason I'm not buying it yet? To be honest, I have no clue.

I still think it's lame that apparently, Orcs still have the same build as Khajiit. But I can easily deal with it.

I'll probably get it eventually.

I have it. I've bought three ****ing copies of it (a gift for my brother, a gift for a friend whom I owe a favor, and one for myself, all on PC). It's pretty awesome. It's taking a lot of the good parts of Oblivion and dropping some of the shitty parts. They are using the Fallout lockpicking system, a two-handed combat system (which makes magic far more useful, since you can keep a melee weapon out while you have magic on the other hand, or you can dual-wield melee or magic to an awesome effect), the world looks amazing, the animations, faces, and voice acting are finally up to par with the rest of the gaming world, and the combat has lots of nuance that makes it different while still being the same. The dragons are pretty daunting, but I hear that they become less of a threat as you progress. Giants, on the other hand... The game still feels like Oblivion in a few ways, which is either good or bad, depending on what you think. Movement feels pretty much unchanged, the environments, while being much more impressive than Oblivion, still have the same look, if you know what I mean. The world interaction seems to have stepped it up a bit. You see more traps in dungeons, you get more interactive items around town (a sawmill, a full blacksmith area where you can repair/upgrade/craft a series of things, etc.), the conversations all happen real-time, cool stuff like that. The world is a bit more populated (so far) than it was before. I no longer wander through a barren forest for ten minutes before finding some people near a dungeon or something. I've seen elk, mudcrabs, rabbits, horses, wolves, and so on, just a few minutes after leaving the first town. It's not overloaded to the point of constant action, but it definitely feels more alive. The AI is mostly the same, but enemies will occasionally pull something you weren't expecting. I've seen them retreat to higher ground and return to attack mode with a bow, knowing they'd get some hits on me while I try to cover the ground between us. I've seen them lure me into traps in dungeons, I've seen them actually time their attacks and blocks to some success. It's still similar, but they know a new trick or two. The critical hits in the game result in awesome executions, which either play out as though they're natural parts of your constant clicking of the mouse (like some sort of combo you meant to do), or in a New Vegas-esque slow-motion cinematic camera beatdown. It seems to always result in instant death, so while it's not common, it's nice when it happens. Magic is weakish for me right now, but it looks like it becomes a force to fear in the future. Archery is pretty much awesome from the start, it seems. Archers can do a real number to me, and I've slain more than a few baddies by popping a few arrows into their chests. The menus are the only part of the game that I really don't care for. They're definitely meant for controllers, and they kind of break if you customize your controls. They still work, but you won't like them very much if you're using mouse and keyboard. I guess that's my quick and dirty run-down of the game.

I also forgot how often my constant looting left me over-encumbered. Walking kind of sucks.

Well, at least it's only about a month away. I'll be skipping the new Zelda until Xmas. That'll be torture for me, but I've already spent my money.

Giants, on the other hand...
I officially ****ing hate giants. I got off my horse, and was gathering some herbs and ****.  Then this dick *** giant just waltzes up to my horse, stares at it for a second and PUNCHES IT TO DEATH, then walks off. **** giants.

And yeah dragons aren't very intimidating later on in the game. The first one seemed to be the only tough one, the rest seem to consist of waiting for them to land and then wailing on their faces until they die. Don't even need to heal. Kinda lame.

Game is really great though. Really great.

Mine neither. But chances are it will soon enough. The more I think, the more I want.
It's only a matter of not being lazy and actually going to the store...

I missed that feeling.
The sheer wonder of walking into a brand new world, and not knowing anything.

Also torching deer is pretty fun.

ed: After playing for something like 10 hours, I have to say that this is a damn fine game.
All of my initial problems with it melted away due to how crazy FUN the game is, and the fact that I've spent 10 hours in the starting area without leaving, and still have ~20 (mostly minor) quests should tell you how densely packed with content the game is.

Too bad I couldn't buff out my strength at the start for looting though :'(
Running out of space when I actually use mostly everything in my inventory is a drag.
