Most of the athletes train constantly for very little reward. Hell, you don't even win money for winning in the olympics.
Not quite true. Athletes are compensated a certain amount if they win medals, determined by their home country. US gold medal winners get $25,000 (which is taxed $9,000). Not much, but other countries pay out way more...Italy pays the most, $182,000 to any gold medal winner.

I feel it's kind of awful that our society rewards someone THAT much just because they can kick a ball into a goal and make the masses happy for that, but if you get a job where you actually try to do some good for humanity, you won't make even close to half that amount.
