Monster hunter 3 ultimate
« on: February 13, 2013, 05:37:22 PM »
So yeah, I'm hyped about this. Demo will be released on the February 20 and I got it preordered and everything. For the 3ds though, don't own a wii u yet.

My greatest fear is that the game will most likely be monster hunter 3 but more end-game content. Although I do love the game it might get a bit lame to play through it all again. I did it in single player and then again in online and once more in High rank online (pretty much) but its been a while since I didn't just play to farm lagiacrus and deviljhos online.

Gonna be great, sucks than I'm stuck with the european servers though. I hate nintendo when it comes to online games. They translate the goddamn game to spanish, german, italian and french (and more). Which means that communication is pretty much impossible. Germans and so on have their own names for items, enemies, abilities and all the short-commands like "I'll set a trap" or "let's go" come out un-translated when they pick them. Sorry guys, I don't understand a word you are saying. It's hard to convince them to speak english when the game have been translated for them. And from that comes the racism(not really but y'know) So you enter a game, they write "ger?" I answer "nope." they go "then levae". Or whenever there are two people from the same country the lingua franca suddenly becomes that language to everyone else even when everyone else use English. And for some reason, other countries and learning communicating with English = pretty bad. They do a lot of reading and writing, but never really anything useful. Kinda like you people learn "foreign languages" I guess, odd phrases about stuff under stuff "the dog is under the table" and stuff like that.

Never mind, that rant wasn't the point of the thread...  Monster hunter 3 ultimate, for the 3DS and Wii u, coming soon, March 20, get it.

Already plan on it!  And the thing about American version is that it is ONLY in English!!  Except maybe the instruction booklet.  Depending the on game's size for Wii U, I'm gonna get it digitally.

You can get wii u games digitally now? Like actual games? Games that are sold on discs?

So yeah, played the 3ds version demo today. Game is looking great.
Two battles, lagombi and plesioth. You pick a pretermined set of items much like the colosseum.

Found the controls a bit wonky though. You hold L and press Y and A swap between items and use items on Y. Normal attacks are on X and secondary on A and a touch screen button. R is the transformation to sword mode for the switch axe which I kinda remmber being the block button for everyone else.
Especially the item choosing bugs me. Not efficient. would have prefered that you hold down a button and use the change camera dpad to swap between items. Also, trying to change the camera to change where you are going in the water is a huge problem with the "stick" being the control and the d pad underneath being the camera.
I suppose I have to get one of those circle pad pro thingies to solve my issues though.

Is it just me or does it feel like a huge chunk of the game is missing out when there is no gathering of materials and crafting?

They added a mining pick and all that at the supply chest but there was just no point in taking them when they only give you 20minutes to complete the quest.

They're just focusing on the action of fighting I think.  I mean, you can purposely fail the quest and mine, fish etc, but they want to reel in people with action and killing I believe.

Slightly off topic, I always thought it was weird that there are US and UK translations of games...

Mostly handheld games. Like Ds and psp. Instead of sending it to the states to get translated to english first and then shipped to the rest of europe they send one to Europe. Creates some hilarious results such as advance wars days of ruin. It is also possible that Europe wants to process the English alongside the crappy languages like german/spanish and french instead of recieving the english version and having to add the others ones later on.

Awesome news about the Wii-U version.

Frist, American and Europe online play with each other will be available with a free patch that you can download a few weeks later after release (Which isnt a big dea cuz u should be playing offline first anyways).

Second, you can play it on just the gamepad itself so you can poop and play! Awesome!

Awesome, but the 3ds version doesn't have online mode now does it? How far can you get with the pad away from the wii u? 'Cuz it kinda feels like it's cheating if the wii u player can walk around with his game donwstairs to make lunch like me the 3ds player,

Glad they just allowed for Europe and NA to play together, mixing in a whole bunch of asian people usually ends pretty bad.  Not that the people are bad. Just, cultural differences and the lack of readable western letters. And add South america and everyone will open by asking "BR?", crazy Brazilian people playing video games.

oh god yeah, the language would drive us all insane lol.  I'm not entirely sure the distance, but I'd say like 10 or 20 feet.  It's not that far, but far enough you might be able to reach bathroom or kitchen depending on where your system is.

Also another cool thing is that you only need to plug in the power cable to play games that can be played either tv or gamepad.  Sooo I guess if ur waiting for ur car to get its oil changed with ur toyota care, u can plug it in an outlet and play mario, zelda wind waker or monster hunter lol.

There's no wifi on 3DS unfortunately, but u can play with a person locally on their wiiu.  I'm not sure on whether or not u can play online with them, but that's probably doubtful.

Hey, what is the graphics like on the Wii u gamepad? Just got curious when I thought about all them games supporting gamepad play.
