Top Favorite Christmas Movies
« on: November 20, 2014, 04:59:46 AM »
So I was watching some morning news program and it was talking about how Charles Shultz' son, the guy who made Peanuts, is giving snoopy and the cast a new look in clay animation-like 3D, which looks nice but somebody else will have to give that a review cause it was what the female news caster said after the article that got me to thinking. She said that the classic cartoons are still family favorites to this day. Made my heart smile that, since I used to drive my parents nuts watching them, then they got to talking about their favorite holiday films and somebody said "Diehard" and I was all like. "Heh. No. My top favorite Christmas movie/TV specials are more like:

Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol (and every Tenth Doctor Christmas Episode!!) , I'll be Home for Christmas (seriously it started as a accidental tradition back when I had satellite and was still into watching Disney! It came on every year and some how I was there to see it. Probably cause CN had TERRIBLE X-mas stuff from what I remember), That one Arnold Swartzenager movie where h's trying to find a popular toy for his son and gets into some crazy hijinks along the way. XD I can't remember it's name but I remember the plot! Tell me if you know. Uh let's see the original Peanuts Christmas, yes I still love it all these years later and the Santa Clause I think. Heh I loved how goofy that was. I didn't really find the sequels as much fun though.  I also should mention Monk, Pysch or Eureka and Warehouse 13 cause they all did Christmas Episodes that were either hilarious or well written or both in my opinion.

So yeah basically talk about your favorite Christmas Films and TV specials or post a list of your top ten.

Oooh I forgot about Home Alone. Gosh those were hilarious! XD Like "Mousetrap" but with thieves instead of mice. Gotta always love improvised gadgetry! Hmm maybe I should find a copy of those two and watch them over the holidays.

Die Hard.

...Oh, you wanted something a little more serious? Ok, how about...

A Christmas Story? Yeah, that movie's pretty great. Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

As with most things, I'm super late to the band wagon, but I just recently watched a Nightmare before christmas on Netflix and fell absolutely in love.

For some reason they air all three Lord of the Ring movies on the 23rd, 24th and 25th over here so it's kind of a christmas tradition to watch. Although you might be better of putting in the blueray version it's a time for family so it's kinda good when it cuts to commercial and you get some socializing done. Also, they air all the harry potter movies around Christmas as well. I don't watch those though.

What else, Love actually is a typical christmas movie I suppose, also there's the Blackadder's Christmas carol, it's a nice take on the classic tale.  Oh yeah, that animated movie with Adam Sadler, it's kinda catchy and probably the best thing the guy has starred in (although that's not saying much).

And well, that's about it I suppose. I usually just have to look out the window and see the snow to feel the spirit of Christmas after all.

This, but the extended edition bluerays so they last about 1/3 longer. And for the last couple of years, I've been driving about 150-200 miles to the nearest IMAX to watch the Hobbit releases. So yeah good stuff.
