SIMPLE ENOUGH FOR A CHILD
POWERFUL ENOUGH FOR A DEVELOPER
VERSATILE ENOUGH FOR ANY PLATFORM
For years, RPG Maker has been the easiest way to make your own Windows PC Roleplaying game. We have strived to give everyone, regardless of experience or skill level, the tools to make a game they could be proud of. Now, with RPG Maker MV, your game isn't just on Windows PC, its on the move. Make your game on your Windows or OS X PC, and then deploy it for iOS, Android, Windows, OS X, or even to play in a browser using HTML5!
MAKE GAMES FOR THE PLATFORMS YOU WANT FROM ANY PC
RPG Maker MV can run on both Windows and Mac OS X PCs. Users can also export games for the following platforms:
Windows/EXE
MacOSX/APP
Android/APK
iOS/IPA
HTML 5 for Web Browsers
BUILD YOUR WORLD WITH AN IMPROVED MAP EDITOR
RPG Maker MV uses a user-friendly map system to help you build the RPG world of your dreams. With an additional automated upper layer, mapping in MV is even easier than before.
MAKE YOUR WORLD LIVE WITH A SIMPLE EVENT SYSTEM
In RPG Maker MV, you use the simple, intuitive event system to bring your world to life. You can easily and quickly create NPCs for your characters to interact with, puzzles for them to solve, and quests for them to complete.
GET STARTED IMMEDIATELY WITH BUILT-IN RESOURCES
RPG Maker MV, like previous RPG Makers, comes with its own graphic and audio resources for you to use in your game. From sprites to battlers, from sound effects to music. MV comes with resources for both Fantasy and Sci-fi games, and you are easily able to add more.
USE TWO DIFFERENT BATTLE MODES, RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
With a tick of a checkbox, you can switch between the classic Front View Battle to a Side View Battle system.
USE A MOUSE OR TOUCH SCREEN TO PLAY YOUR GAMES
Tired of playing RPG Maker games with your keyboard? With RPG Maker MV, your game will allow the player to play the game with a flick of their mouse, or using a touch screen.
SEE YOUR GAME IN HIGHER RESOLUTION
RPG Maker MV can show more than ever before. With a default 1.5x the resolution, sprites can show more emotion and the scenery can be more detailed than ever before.
USE PLUGINS TO MAKE A FULLY CUSTOMIZED GAME
Want to customize your game even FURTHER? Use plugins to change things the way YOU want them. You can get them from us, get them from other fans, or master JavaScript to make your own! With our new plugin manager, you can just drop in the .js file of a plugin, and then configure it directly in the editor.
This is via the Steam page. The initial asking price is close to $60. (I'm guessing, store prices are listed in yen over here for 7,182 yen currently with a 10% discount.)

Export to mobile, increased resolution, side-view battle options, and javascript based plugins. Wow, looks like this is shaping up to be a pretty great iteration of RPG Maker.

Almost sound too good to be true, I keep expecting a "but" in there somewhere. Guess we just have to wait for some more info.

Also, I suppose gamepad was a bit too much to ask.

Sounds like the next logical step for them to take to be able to compete with gamemaker and unity.

Guess this means the appstores is gonna get flooded with low quality rpg maker games.

Multisupport is finally being supported, RPG Maker was one of the last "famous" engine not to propose this.
However I'm still unconvinced. It does look promising but there is probably something hidden in there, it's often the case with them. For example there is a weird resolution: tiles of 48x48 sound strange, and converting 32x32 to 48x48 might not be so nice looking if no extra "smoothing" work is done. I heard you could use JS to change the tile size, but it seems to get weird then in the editor (if I look at the RPGMakerWeb forums): "Or use a plugin to set the tile size to 32x32. That'd work for playing but it'd look ugly in the editor."
We don't know much about it yet, so we'll see. I doubt it'll make me dump Rm2k3 though

48x48? Seriously didn't expect that (was thinking of either 64x64 or 32x32 with a built in option of using any), but I am happy  happy because 24x24 tiles are the most comfortable for me when spriting.

However, I was hoping that they would finally give us the option to use any tilesize we want(without the need of plugins). :/

Yes, it is one of the infos we get on the official website:

Quote
Sample Data Included

To help everyone create a game easily, we included some sample datas that you can easily use! We have over 100 Sample Maps, Character Generator Parts and more! RTP is now integrated in the engine to save the users trouble.
Javascript to create complex games

RPG Maker MV uses the well known JavaScript, in combination with HTML5 export. By mastering Javascript, you will be able to change the game to your liking, from Battles to Menu UIs. This feature is oriented to experienced developers. You now have the ability to control all parts of the game. No more hidden classes!

Multiplatform Distribution & Mac Support

You can now create your own RPG Maker games on Macintosh. It will be released at the same time as the Windows version. RPG Maker MV users will be able to build games for the following platforms:

    Windows/EXE
    MacOSX/APP
    Android/APK
    iOS/IPA
    HTML 5 for Web Browsers

Mouse & Touch Input Support

Tired of doing all actions via the keyboard? You can now play your RPG with your finger on touch devices, and mouse on computers.

Large Database

Support for twice as many items as VX Ace for a grand total of 2,000!

Battle System Modes

With a tick of a checkbox, you can switch from the classic Front View Battle to Side View.

Three Map Layers
RPG Maker MV has an automated upper layer to make it easy to create and edit elaborate maps!

Higher Screen Resolution

The previous RPG Maker's screen resolution was 544x416 pixels. RPG Maker MV's screen resolution is now 816x624 pixels. The size of all graphical assets (including animations) are now 1.5 times the previous versions of RPG Maker. For example, characters used to be 32x32, and now they are 48x48.

Introducing Plugin Manager

By adding js files in the project's plugin folder, you will be able to select the plugin in the Plugin Manager. You can see script details, script parameters and the ability to set it ON and OFF. Using Plugin Manager will be much easier to use than the old format. Allowing minimal user interference to prevent errors and easily order the scripts than the previous makers.

Event Searcher

One of the missed functions from RPG Maker 2003, The Event Search function is back! The bigger your game gets, the more Variables, Switches and Events you'll use. It quickly becomes harder to manage and find specific parameters. Using the Event Search tool will allow you to save time and quickly see all instances of a particular variable or switch!

They even uploaded a release trailer : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTim6ClmASk

Fatigue really is an epidemy if using a keyboard is enough to make us tired. XD

I have to say that it looks good, also includes a character and faceset generator.

I saw a preveiw of it curtesy of a discount site a friend showed me. I gotta say I'm impressed with what it shows but I worry that it'll have hard time living up to all that rep. The feature I'll be most curious to see pan out is the option to make your games an App shareable via cellphone.

It'd be nice to have a demo before dropping 70 freaking dollars. I'll probably pass on this until I see what can be done with it. Even then, I doubt me buying it will be anything besides a novelty purchase.

I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'm going to get this at launch. It's something I'd love to play around with, but a lot of the longevity for something like this to me is the Workshop support. VX ace had workshop support, but in all honestly I thought it was abysmal. It wasn't anything on Enterbrain's end, but the community's lack of notable resources released on it. I was hoping for tilesets mostly, but those were practically non-existent. Also, $75 is a big investment for something I'm not sure I'll ever actually put to practical use.

What are your thoughts?

I think the problem with the resources is the difficulty in making them. 16X16 with color limitations is a lot easier than was VX runs with imo.

But then again, I can't say much because I never tried to make anything custom for it.

I'm gonna wait most likely.

I got both Xp and VX but whenever I want to make something I use 2003 or gamemaker. But who knows?
