Tabletop games
« on: December 29, 2015, 04:10:36 PM »
So what type of tabletop games are y'all interested in playing?

Deck building games?

More like munchkin with drawing of cards?

RPGish dungeons?

Other stuff?

Should they be fast/slow?

Easy to get or complex?

As you might have figured out, I am currently messing around with tabletop simulator and is planning to make something charas related.
So far I've made memory games using facesets, a simple boardgame with an actual bord that you move one based on a dice roll and then I found out that someone made a replica of Smash up, so I'm currently adding my own factions

I like traditional RPGs a lot. Me and my friends also play mtg, and games like Talisman. But I guess rpg computer games sort of have most of those things covered.

as for complexity, the perfect game is simple on the surface and gets more and more complex the better people want to get.

I'm mostly a card game guy (like with Munchkin), though I like plenty of other things.

Munchkin is alright. Personal fan of deck builders, especially Dominion and Ascension. I really like cooperative games like Pandemic and Forbidden Desert/Island, and I've been playing a lot of Betrayal at House on the Hill lately.
I play a lot of tabletop games. They are seriously the best.

Tabletop stuff is fun but not if you have no freinds who also enjoy those mondo tubular activities.  :'(

Warhammer (loads of it).

How much loads?

I say this as both a semi-ex-Warhammer player and an ex-professional miniature painter. Wargaming has become a huge part of my life in the past few years.

D-did you say Talisman!? When my brother first became a Janitor he used to bring home things they were going to throw out at the school and one of my favorite things he brought back was a little board game that played like D&D or a old style RPG at least. Ahhh fun times! I ad fun even playing it by myself XD I remember looking for it recently and wanting to see if it was still available...and finding out it goes for a crazy price. Sadly it was the only board game besides "Life" and "Chess" I enjoyed much though.

And not to brag but I did create a table top using FFT rules. Also now that I thin about the Star Wars RPG counts as a tabletop when you use figures and stuff right?

It really is. I'm hoping that we could use it to set up some funtimes among the forum-goers. There seems to be a pretty good number of people who are familiar with Tabletop Simulator, tabletop gaming, or both, so it's starting to look good.

I wouldn't mind that! I'll have to get my new Gaurd Key though. The one they assigned me doesn't work and I've been putting off confronting them about it.

Me and Weregnome (try to) play DnD regularly with a few groups of friends, although he's off in England at the moment with his wife. 5th edition is the bee's tits.

Our DM collects a lot of board/card games; some of the most played ones of note are Betrayal at the House on the Hill, Spyfall, Dead of Winter and of course Cards Against Humanity.

Good times. DnD is my most favourite social activity, I think.

Huh, I actually didn't think a lot of people had played betrayal at house on the hill.

Anyway, in a competitive type of game. Do you rather earn points that will eventually declare you winner or do you like to destroy your opponents with health points and stuff like that? I know that games like Hearthstone and Epic spell wars is more of the later where you set out to defeat your opponents and then they are out. But other games are more about earning points and then at the end of the game or when a certain score is reached the game is over.

I suppose the problem is that I've just played with the same people IRL so its hard to tell what people prefer.

I've always preferred the HP style. It allows for comebacks more than point collection styles do.
