2-3 people making an entire game from scratch (with RM2K) would be really hard.

so let's do some organizing here.. as Darkfox said, departments. there should be a few set up.

Music Department (i'm sure Moiledzep would be in it. and also Alex! he makes good midis)

then there's the Graphics Department. this should be the biggest one cuz if you plan on making a game/team then you should know that graphics are very important.
-Charsets
-Chipsets
-Battle Animation
-System(s)
-Monsters
-Panorama
-Title

then a Codings Department. there are lots here.
CBS
Map Codings
etc

then the daddy of all this is the Head Department
-Storylines
-Plots
-Character Designs
-Map Designers
-and all the stuff i mentioned in my first post here

so there should be at least 20 people in a game making team or whatever. of course, 8 months is a long period of time so maybe 3 people are ok.. but there should be at least 2-3 months time of re-arranging.. etc etc.. i'm pretty useless, i guess.. so far i've made NOTHING yet.. wehehe.. but i know what it takes to make stuff.

8 months starting May or now?

ermm.. what do you mean by teams? departments?

it all begins with the Head Department. The Head Department decides the resources first and the basic outline of the story. Then after the decision making by the Head Department is finalized and completed, that's where all the other departments make their stuff. The Head Department starts writing the story and decides what type of side quests and add ons to make.

Then the Graphics department would show samples to the Head Department. maybe for each charset, 3 of the same kind. the head department would choose one of the 3 to be completed. so maybe by the 3rd month, all of the sample choosing would be finished and start finishing them.

Then in the start of the 5th month, every resource should be finished. then 2 weeks would be the finalization of everything. 2 1/2 weeks of beta testing and the last month for ammendments.

There are many ways to increase efficiency (did i say that right?). Like.. when the completment of resources are starting, make the ones at the beginning of the game first. then progressing to the end of the game. that way stuff would be faster cuz map designers could make the maps with civilians in it first, then move on as new resources are handed in.

Not only that. even within departments, there should be assigned groups.

Charsets-
Heros
Villains
Civilians
Monsters
Objects

Chipsets-
Interior
Exterior
World Map
Dungeons
Wilderness

basically, the more people, the better.. that's why i said at least 20 people.. lol.. if less, then it would take longer for a well planned game. actually it all depends on how much there is in the game :D

I could work for the Storyline Group since i'm pretty useless in making graphics.. but i only do Midieval-Style-Epic Storylines.. Suikoden-ish types of games.. wehehe

oh yeah.. the voting system, i think it would be better if communities' can't vote for the games they made. Like the one charas is gonna make, we can't vote for it. it would be more fair that way.

How? if all the outher communities vote for themselves and we vote for someone else, charas would have 0 everbody else would have 1 and one (the winner) would have 2 (unless everbody was told the trouth)

and would we be able to use the charas generater or not
and if I did it I would be working on the storyline and my brouther could work on the maps (as he is great at doing maps,but he is not a member) (this is Nick the unblooded Red)

get it? i'm not saying the charas community is the only one who can't vote for the game they made! that's what i meant to say! hehe sorry! i was in a hurry when i wrote that!

8 months starting when we'll finish the rules and when we'll find out who will partecipate.

Anyhow, i agree with X-F3R: a large "team" is surely better because we should present a work in name of the whole Charas community.
So, more peoples means also more "Charas" inside.
If the group is well coordinated and who will be into it will work, then we will really create something good in every sense.
This is very diffucult with just 2-3 members.

8 months right after the rules draft is confirmed eh? I say give it 1 - 2 months before the starting of the contest.

If Charas was to propose a contest while we already have the staff, then it wouldn't be fair now, would it? :D so after the draft is confirmed, Charas proposes it to a few other communitie1s and a month later, Charas will check if any of them are interested. If there are 2 or more (competing 1 on 1 is boring.. lol..) then it's a game. but by the time they have confirmed their entrance to the competition, they should have a complete team already. So for us, Charas, who knows their active members well, we should have a team ready 2 weeks before the deadline of the "Team Check". Cuz it'll be really embarassing if we proposed it and haven't a team.. lol..

Also, if you want a team then you'll need a team who has A LOT of free time. A friend of mine said a game with 20 hours worth of gameplay could be made within 2 weeks, using made resources if that person really puts all his effort on it. And a person who would make all the resources for his game made from scratch would take 2 months using RM2K. again, using all his/her effort in making the game.

Why 2 months? at first i didn't believe him but then i did cuz i made 3 individual charsets (One person only) in one day. And, a skilled spriter could make an individual charset in less than 1 hour. A determined skilled spriter could make at least 16 individual charsets (2 complete sets) in one day.

So here's the List of departments that will be needed in a team-

Head/Development Department
-Storyline/Plot
-Character/Map Design
-Music/Battle Style
-Name Decision

Graphics Department
-Battle Animations (Animating)
-Charsets
-Chipsets
-System(s)
-Monsters
-Title
-Panorama
-Backdrop (Not really needed cuz I guess it's better if Chipsets were used to make Backdrops)

Codings Department
-CBS
-CMS
-Common/Map Events

Music Department
-title says it all

Beta testing Department

Basically, the Head/Development Department is just one group cuz that group will have to debate, agree and disagree on the main frame of the game. and usually, it's the story writer's job to check all resources and provide sketches to graphic makers. In this game development, words won't be enough.

i also guess "choosing" would be more better than "Volunteering". Volunteering wouldn't hurt tho.. lol.. each Volunteers should either be recognized if he is good in that field or provide 2 samples of what he/she could do.

where's TheBrave? :D i think he'll have a major role in the Game Development. Ghost Clown is also a pretty good spriter.  Battle Animations could be a problem tho.. lol.. we've got a few good MIDI composers.. me? oh i'm just here to talk.. lol..

Depends.. if they got alot of talented members then they could also join. we have a shortage of hands so i guess it'd be best if we stay as one group.

I could help out in story writing and plot. since that's all i'm probably good at. Also Character Design.. if it's Midieval tho.. lol.. maybe futuristic too.. modern stuff is where i sux0rz to the fullest.

ok I guess I would be useless.  I can do a few edits, but since they are not allowed then I am nothing important.  I can't make midis.  The only thing I could maybe do is help with a story line. :|

BTW, I'm teaching myself to draw charsets, and they're coming along well! I'll try to get better by the time the contest starts!  ;)  Here's a charset of Mario that I drew! (but Tiny Mario is a rip/edit)
