Well, I'm glad to see that you desided to use a mack chipset instead of the FF6 one you gave to me.

I still have to say, even though it's been said, that the maps don't go together. You've got rudra, mack and blue... probally many others. They really really don't go together, especially the rudra. I mean.... it's kind like putting ff4 graphics with ff6 ones. Just doesn't turn out well at all.

Although I disagree, you are entitled to your own opinion.  But, IMO I see no problem.

RELEASE DATE?!?!
« Reply #154 on: November 10, 2005, 01:39:17 AM »
Yes, you read correctly.  I have carefully and thoughfully come up with a release date for Demo 2 of CD: Ep.1.  Just look underneath my game thread at the description, and it's there.  For now, an update.

Update: Everything is going great.  Chapter one is finished except for some few things I need to edit here and there.  I've already started on Chapter 2, and I love how it's coming out.  If all goes well, it should be out by the release date.  I've gotten a few more recources, and almost all my mpas are done.  Its the eventing that will take long.  I want everything to be perfect for this demo.  Well, thats basically it.  If anyone wants to help, feel free to ask.
And what Update is complete without some juicy screens?  ;)  Lol.

Screens:

Between every chapter, there is a mini scene.  This one is of a Council Meeting.  Very smart scene btw.  ;)

Where Laknar was talking from.  Who is that guy in blonde?  Could he be yet another mysterious character?  You bet'cha. :D

Finally fixed this scene.  These reporters are bombarding the King with questions.

Tell me what you guys think.  And as always, Enjoy! :D

look at your own game... using rudra chars with mac and blue chipsets is just as bad as what you have hypocritically stated.

Sarcastic mode on: Oh ouch!
Sarcastic mode off: Nice place to post this. I ment for the maps. As you might see if you read back, many people think that his maps need alot of work. I'm not unlike them. The new shots that he posted also need work in my opinion. The first one is ok because I'm guessing it's supposed to be a dark room with a plot exempler. However, the other two pictures need lots of work. There's no varity in them, and they all look like they've been done 10-30 seconds apart.

To Leon: The only thing I use from Rudra are the charasets that I've edited to make look more like RTP characters, for the main characters. Clearly you haven't looked over my game recently. Think before you react. If you do want to reply to this, save it for PMs and not flood up this forum.

Anyways linkforce, I already said it, but those maps need flavor. I don't know about you, but I try to usally take shots of the best areas in my maps, which I also assume most people try to do. Unless you arn't like that, or prefer to take shots of cutseens over gameplay, you should really consider redoing a lot of you maps. And, one last thing, I think I heard something somewhere about the guards looking to similar. Now that I see 9 of them in the same shot, I'm going to agree with that statement. You should have some without helmets or have some with different poses/colors or anything to defy the pattern of look-alikeness you have going on.

Okay, to resolve any confusion.

Soldiers: I have 2 diff. types of those soldiers, but I neglected to put them in the screen.  My fault.

Maps: Alot of the screens I take are just small portions of the map that doesn't show much.  I like to show a scene rather then the map itself.  If you just like a game for its maps, and not story or characters...thats pretty shalow.

Screen 1: This is a high-tech court room.  The little pedestals are monitors, because the people are not actually there.  If you look closely, they are see-through.  And the room is very empty, because well.....thats the way they are in this world.

Screen 2: It is a comunications room for one person.  what else is there to put in there? :|

Screen 3:  don't see any problem since I already said about the soldiers.  Where the words are covering, there is grass, and it is well detailed.

Hope that clears some things up.

I don't rate games by maps. However, I would much rather have a game with good graphics and good story over a game with crappy ones and outstanding story. As to what you could put in the com-room, I dunno. Maybe some computers, chairs and desks, wires lining the floors. It doesn't take to much effort to go in and manually edit a chipset to have those, and it really makes a big difference. Rug.... lamps.... cracks in the floor.... anything really.

Aside from that, I think that most people would be with my in saying that pictures are for maps, and writing is for plot. If you want to tell about scenes, then writing would be the answer, rather then putting out a picture book and leaving us to assume that everything but the screen shot that you took is supposed to be well made.

Anyways, keep up the work, and try to be a bit more artistic with your maps. Sometimes, you have to put in things that will never be used or interacted with to jazz a map up. Like, as an example, a lot of games have these small guys, then a row of bookshelves that are three times as tall as the guy is. No ladder new-by, no-one reading any of the books, but it still never crosses your mind as to why it's there. It's just detail, something to keep you from looking at the same thing over and over.

This game is looking better and better everytime!!!

Honestly, I'm looking forward more to this game than I am to Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core for the PSP. And I'm crazy about Final Fantasy.

So please oh please continue to work on this game. It's looking awesome!

Leon has a point... XD yeah right.

Well, Each time I check here, I see your game coming along better and better. (Whereas my game...) I think the maps are very good. I understand why you can't put too many things, otherwise, it'd be like a dump. Well, good luck with the rest of your game!
