Hmmm I don't mind drowning, nor being sucked up in a twister... but dying because I've fallen into lava... that would suck.

In any case, on the topic of hurricanes, I think that global warming has something to do with it - it's causing massive climate shifts already. So yeah, we're doomed to die by nature killing us with supervolcanoes and megatwisters and all that good movie stuff.

If this world is destroyed, it will be by the hands of man, not nature. Nature instictively rights what is wrong, violently if necessary. Hurricanes, tornadoes, etc are all ways that the Earth heals and cleanses itself. If we would leave the world alone, not pollute, and live off of the earth as was intended it would eventually fix all the damage done by this and past generations.

There is no "natural instinct". There is no "intended". None of this is happening for a moral reason. Huge hurricanes like this might be because of mankind's impact on the global climate, but it isn't some sort of punishment by an angry earth spirit. It might be a good sign that we're mucking things up too much for our own good though.

I'm sort of in shock over this. It isn't every day that I wake up one day, check the news, and find that a major city is just basically GONE. September 11th was a handfull of buildings. This pales in comparison. Though I wonder which event will be more infamously remembered a hundred years down the line.

It was the terrorists!!!11!!11111 They have invented technology to.... no, they're in ca-hootz (sp?) with the Asians and THEY made the technology to synthesize natural disasters, it's the only explanation!!!11!!

Obviously I'm just being an idiot with that, but seriously, I really don't care about the people who our left there. (omg, Ace you are an inhumane ***hole) No, really. They had a 5 DAY EVACUATION WARNING. Sure, I'm sorry about what's going on down there, and that people are being killed and such, but guess what, maybe Katrina WANTED to rid the earth of those filthy bastards down there who are shooting people, raping women, looting places, just completely reaking havoc across the place. I'm not saying that Katrina the hurricane had a mind of its own, but nature has its way of "cleaning things up", and from what I've heard and seen, New Orleans is a filthy place. But what's sickening to me, is not a damn country is going to help at all. Nobody, we haven't gotten any response, no other country gives a ****. We do what we can to help donate for the tsunami that happened, and what do we get in return? Not a damn cent, not even a ****ing tank of water bottles FRANCE. It's so stupid, America helps people, and then when **** happens to us, everyone else just gives us the finger "**** YOU AMERICA!!!". I hate it. I seriously think that America from now on should just say "**** YOU" back. But no, we won't do that. Though we WANT to, we're TOO NICE to do it. That's right, everyone thinks that America is the bad guys, we suck, screw them, but then in time of need, "Oh America, please help us." and we do. Anyway, got a little off topic... actually not really, but yeah. Don't even say that there's nothing you can do about the hurricane when they had a warning. In my mind though, I wish that Katrina could've cleared that place out, with all the crime and **** they're doing now. And gas prices... don't even get me started. Those fuckers at OPEC don't give a damn that a disaster happened, they take advantage at every disaster that happens, because they're HEARTLESS MOTHER FUCKERS WHO DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THEIR ****ing FOREIGN SELVES AND MONEY. ARAGHGHGHGHGH!!!!!! .....and those people that were in the dome and **** better not come up here, I don't feel like getting malaria, typhoid or any other **** that they're plagued with...

Gee Ace... this is totally not like you... rather uncomforting, you've never used so many cusses in one post as far as I remember so I'm assuming your pretty angry towards this subject... it's usually me who's Mr. Rage. Though I can understand your hatred towards a place that is full of that. But what of those who aren't and have no choice but to live with it (or die from it whichever the case may be) and have not enough income to move and maybe do not even have a car?

Though I do agree that those gas companies are greedy, and those awful people needed to be dealt with.

Though I know some sombody down around there that was close to the hurricane destruction field, though he said he and his family was going to take extra precautions so I'm hoping they are alright.

I just want to say, that for most people it ain't easy to leave a place you've lived in for years and have grown attached to, knowing that it'll likely be destroyed, leaving all the money that was put into it. Hey, it wouldn't really be much to some really rich guy, he probably would have secondary houses already built, but what about those poorer people, some even don't have cars. I dunno, there are too many factors left out.

Yes, I loathe the creeps, but those who have no choice are those you should try to take into consideration.

OOT: MelvinMyster? What does that mean? It's a new member O.o people get the oddest nicknames somtimes.

That doesn't only aply to humans. Animals have that too. But then again, an animal won't have a 5 day evacuation warning...

My dad said that once, and this is what I what was thinking:
You are definitely right about the world being destroyed by the hands of man and not nature. What I think warxe meant about global warming was meaning man. Global warming is being done by the burning of fossil fuels and the like. Have you ever seen The Day After Tomorrow? I think that it was a good take on the effects of global warming, and while I wouldn't believe it to be that dramatic, I think global is making storm systems worse. At least hurricane's and twister's anyway. It's been snowing on and off more and less in winter's up here in northeastern US. That's just my whole view of things.

I heard that if the global temperature rises 3 degrees celcius that Greenland's(not sure) ice caps will melt and that the sea will rise 7 meter. And when that happens, make sure you have a trash can. It kept the guy in Brainiac floathing.

Ah, Louisiana... the only state that no one will accuse of being part of the US. Overall though you know that people will recover, the idiots that didn't leave in heed of a week long warning have been wiped from the gene pool, and Mardi Gras will go on no matter the level of destruction so it's all good.

:(.......................................................................................

You know, this entire day, I was at work, and the only thing I hear around the store was "Gas prices, Gas prices, Gas prices."

We get people coming in on their shifts and they start telling everyone of the LONG lines that are at the gas stations. I've known ever since I've lived here, this city I live in is the hometown for the worst drivers. There's about 5 wrecks a day in our city, because people like to cut out in front of each other or people like to look pimp and forget how to drive.

BUT, my point is, you should've seen the wrecks today....I counted....about....25 wrecks between my job and my house, which is like 3 miles. As soon as I was driving back, I was just thinking over and over, "If something goes wrong locally, doesn't matter if its minor or major, the entire city will go chaotic. The only thing that's majorly chaotic are the fist fights that go on at the gas pumps, people cutting in line and fighting over gas. Tomorrow, all of our gas stations will either be $6.00 a gallon, or be shut down. Thank god we filled up today.

I even heard that today that some people brought shotguns to a gas station and took about 50 gallons of gas for free and left and never got caught. The gas station's shut down now.

Doesn't matter how much gas we have left, if it's 0 or 2 drops, people just want to drive for no apparent reason, for no reason at all. I'm going to be laughing when no one has gas and everybody has to walk, and we are the only ones will gas. It'll be like that one scene on War of the Worlds, where they were fighting over that car.

Bush said that they took loans and made a large shipment from foriegn countries full of fuel, but I think that's a bunch of balony. It's only been said so it can calm us down. But face it everybody, THERE'S NO GAS COMING!!!

And just like Ace said, let most of the people in New Orleans rot, because like I said, one thing, minor or major, the entire city will go hectic. Since this is major, rapings, lootings, shootings, etc etc is happening.

I agree with everything Ace said too, I'm just not expressing it the same way he is. I've never seen Ace so angry.

Nor have I. He's not seemed himself, but I'll assume he's under quite a bit of stress.
