How did YOU learn how to use RM'S?
« on: September 16, 2005, 09:22:40 PM »
Yeah; so how did you learn each one?

RM2K: Played games made by it. Didn't look at many tutorials.

RM2K3: Learnt. Wasn't too hard thanks to my previous knowledge

RMXP: I still am oblivious.

I basically asked charaman all of my questions- he gave me xp first but I switched to 2k3. But yeah I asked him a lot of questions and taught myself some things. I also looked at other peoples' games.

Well, RPGmaker is very simple, overall. So all that's needed are a few minutes of tinkering and you have the basics already figured out.

Don't remember where I got hooked up with rm2k but after a week with it I learned switches by myself and a week later understood variables with the thanks of some sort of tutorial. A few moths later I was already thinking of my own custom sysstems.

My friend taught me what switches and variables were, and I figured out everything else for myself.  No tutorials whatsoever.

Started on RPG Maker 95+, which was far more simple than 2000. Was really easy to self-teach myself the basics. After 2k came out it wasn't hard to figure out all the new commands.

Still to this day I haen't read or used anyone else's tutorial. If I want something for my game, I make up the code myself.
