This is a disappointing thread. Charas members, do not bash someone's religeon. The original poster has a very skewed opinion on the subject.. Don't argue with idiots. They make you stoop to their level and beat you with experience.

Haha, yeah.

Anyway. I feel that Charas can have religious discussions. There's a lot of potential to discuss the interests of each one.

But not like this. What follows I do not mean to offend, but this thread is founded by a single Christian who does not like something and boycotts it using his religion. I'm sorry to say, but if you like something he doesn't, you're going straight to Hell. Enjoy your ride.

And it really has no limits. What if this person doesn't like violent video games? You're going to Hell? What about non-violent video games? Anime? Casual swearing with friends?

No. This is why the email is highly faulted. It targets a specific group without any regard for their religion or anything, tells them that they are going to Hell, and then tells them to look to Jesus for help or something. It's practically a recruitment letter for Christianity, but it's doing it all wrong. This is why the thread should not have been made on the email.

Now, regarding the music itself. Is this real? Has any of us verified it? The email might have a small point if it's true, but if it's lying, using popular songs as a base to get people into Christianity... then it's just awful. Now, IF the songs do infact have some sort of secret messages, they are almost definately an accident, unless the rapper/artist says so themselves. Hell, you've heard them at those music choice awards type things, they usually thank God.

And like I said before, if a message IS heard, usually you have to be looking for it. If you gave someone one of those songs backwards, and they had no idea about the messages (this includes you say "Hey, listen to this, see if you can hear anything!") I guarantee that they will probably not hear it.

Religion is such a touchy subject. a person really has to watch what they say. You say the wrong thing, even unintentionally, and you got a lot of people angry at you. I'll watch how I say things, it's up to you whether you like it or not.

With that said, I have the read the bible. Maybe not the same as the Christian Bible though. Mine was called New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. I'm sure their are tons of different Translations and interpretation of the bible.

When it comes to music, I basically agree with Razor. It's most likely an accident. Now I'm sure there are songs out there that have subliminal messeges, but saying ALL rock and ALL rap and Hip-hop and R&B is evil and has subliminal messeges? That's laughable. If you look hard enough you can find the bad anything. The question is if the good in it outways the bad. It basically comes down to how hard you look for it and how you see it when you find it.

Horrible Irony: I bet you could find 'subliminal messages' if you play some Christian bands if you try hard enough.

I agree with Razor, that as email can be brutal. I recieved an email that detailed a rape, which led to a pregnancy and a girl commiting suicide. I sent it to my friends and some others on my list with the thought that people should know of it, and that I am against it. I recieved an email from a friend in return, where she chewed me out for it. I HAVE recieved religious emails from friends and family, and I usually delete them..

All chain emails are garbage. I recieved a letter from my parents. It was saying that Bill Gates was giving away some of his fortune and that the email was tracked and that if you sent it along you'd recieve money. I emailed them back saying, when you recieve the money, I'll believe it. Guess what... never got no money.

In what follows, the 'Gong' joke was an inside joke between myself and my friend who died in a car accident. I mean no disrespect to any who believe in god, it is only a joke. Just thought you may want to understand a little background of it before someone throws a fit.

Why people think that using an email to force a persons belief is better then forcing it upon them through word of mouth, will never make sense to me. I have no problem with emails where people send it out and say, I believe in gong, and if you do too, send this to your friends. Belief in gong is no reason to believe you are better then I am. Yes Razor has a point that we can have mature debates about religion, and as the thread has not been locked, I believe this could be a healthy debate. I see KM stating his religious belief, but not trying to tell people like myself that I have to believe in gong.
I have had some debates with Trevlac in the past, but we are both mature people, and it does not come to "You're stupid for believing in gong" followed by "Well you're going to hell since you don't"
Why? Because we have respect for the others beliefs. I have respect for serious Christians because they have heart. In the world of today, it seems that gong is gone, or to quote the Crucible (my school was putting on that play) - "God is Dead" - John Proctor.
But the people who believe, and strongly so, they face a world full of problems, and they manage to hold onto that faith that we are supposed to fix the world on our own.

Where the bible is concerned, as I was a Catholic for years and years, I have indeed read the bible, and I do find something interesting. If every story in the bible were true, gong changed from a dark, brooding, angry god, to being a calm, loving, and silent god. In the old testament, god speaks with many of his followers, Abraham, Isaac, etc. But in the new testament, he speaks only to Jesus. Why did he change? It's something that makes no sense in the bible.

Personally, I do believe that Jesus existed, because of the fact that there are records from the time of the Roman emperor, and a Jew named Jesus was crucified. So, it's a high chance that Jesus did exist. Whether he was a prophet, a philosopher, or a mad man is what I ponder. If he WAS the son of gong, and I'm wrong, so be it.

In the new testament, God doesnt only speak to Jesus, but yes, it is that way mostly, but there is a reason as to why this happens. And its in the bible, if you study it enough. And i don't plan on giving any one lessons.

Back to music business. Yes, subliminal messages happen everywhere, in almost anything, there's even some in the Bible. Bet you didnt know that one. Apperantly what i said about subliminal messages not making music evil, isnt making much difference.

In effect ALL CHAIN email are quite pathetic. I dont even read them, i can distinguish and before openning them, i delete them. I sugges some of you try a similiar strategy, cause personally, I don't like getting mad at my inbox.

And i know about mail chains; i have 5 friggin mails.

Well, its not that the music itself is evil, it's how you interpret it. If you want to interpret it as evil then maybe you're the evil one for picking over all the song you can in every way to find satanic messages. If you're finding satanic messages in your favourite songs, re-evaluate yourself, not the music.

That's besides the point, the Crusades was many years ago. Christians aren't like that now, so it's a bad example.

Christianity has probably killed more people than anyone else in the 20th Century; the spread of AIDS in the third world is due to a major part on the behalf of the Catholic Church (A Christian religion) for condemning contraception, which is morally stupid considering the climate in which we live in today. The idea is basically this; the more people we can produce who are Catholic means that we’ll have more Catholics. The fact that millions are now dying from a new epidemic, like the plague, doesn’t come into it. Those who believe that the Church actually believes in the sanctity of life know scarcly anything of it; people are simply used by the Church as a means of expendable cannon fodder,  to provide the church with ‘support’ and above all money to pay for the extravagant temples that they build in the name of ‘God’, rather than put the money to the practical application of Christ’s philosophy.

And then you look at the shares in which the Catholic Church has in the Breweries that produce Alcohol, a drug that has caused untold misery for millions in the latter half of the 20th century with the increased availability of alcohol; Families being torn apart by alcoholic members, drink driving, death, alcohol poisoning, etc...

If I stated the fact that the nazis systematically murdered six million people, would you tell me to 'lay off the nazis'?

Facts are facts, and whether or not we like to admit them or not is besides the point.

The truth lives.
