...wow.
I'm impressed with your 2k3 skills, although the battle itself takes a little too much KH inspiration.

Just wanted opinions on an elevator I'm working on. Here's a video of it working. I know it could use more detail. But for now, how convincing is it?

It's more like a moving platform than an elevator, since it's not enclosed. But I think it works well for the intended purpose. Some pulleys and rotating gears might be visually interesting, but I wasn't sure if they would be appropriate in the context of your game.

Keep the screen from panning up and down when you walk. Otherwise, it's freaking badass.
EDIT: Also, find a better background panorama. Perhaps something that implies more appropriate depth. Looks a bit choppy and flat right now.

By the way, how did you do that? An effect like that would be perfect for A
EDIT2: Har har. I can't read Youtube descriptions. I see. You made events that continuously move upward. Is the player free to walk anywhere on the elevator, or is he blocked from the path that the elevator railways cross?
EDIT3: OOOOKAY. So, on closer inspection, I see that he's only limited to walking on the grating section of the elevator. If you're going to block his movement in that manner, then I'd strongly suggest making some walls for that elevator. The base looks really dang good!

Gears and such just might be a good idea. And true about the open platform.

Yeah, I had to enclose it unless I used pictures for the railway, and even then part of the platform would have to be a picture to get the effect of it coming through the platform. I left open for battles. It just disappoints me I can't have the platform moving while there's battles going on. I just don't see how that's possible in the DBS. =(

I thought the screen panning up and down when he walks was intentional, like a little jerky movement that you'd expect in most elevators. If you fix that problem, maybe a little intermittent screen-shaking at certain points?

Wily announces his plan!

The chipset was an edit of the one I found on this site. I forgot who it was that made it.

PS: How can I chang the font? I found a NES Megaman font to use.

You need to get better facesets. Those are distinctly 16-bit while the rest of the game is 8. Try Megaman 9 cutscenes and robot master portraits.

Same goes for the system theme. Change the background to a non-gradient. Perhaps a dithered pattern or solid color.

If you have the time please take a look at the ABS/CBS/CMS system i'm working on for my upcoming demo.

I'm crafting the engine to resemble Final Fantasy 13s battle system mixed with Kingdom hearts ABS.

As you can imagine this is taking a huge amount of my time but its coming along.

I'm finished with enemy A.I. (Hopefully) so these vids were made.

Looks really nice, I've definatly never seen a battle system like that before (I actually have no idea how FF 13's battle system is like in the first place... I've got to look into that sometime.)

In the third video, when the characters swing their weapons, they just seem kind of "stiff". I did notice that the charset don't just stand still while a sword appears out of no-where and hits the enemy, but it sort of seems that way. You should add more movement to the character's whole body and not just one hand, during the attack to make it seem more natural.

Over all, looks like it'll end up being a hack-n-slash button masher. Unless, of course, if you were aiming for that purposly, then I really shouldn't be complaining. I have to admit that it looks really fun to try out though.

That's pretty awesome! Any chance we'll get a vid with some magic usage?

Part of the maze, don't want to show the map.  ;)

I couldn't find the tileset that looked cave-y on the sprites inc website. I edited the pokemon set for now.
