Concept art for my next game
« on: June 28, 2006, 09:39:15 PM »
I was bored last night so I decided to think of and draw the main character in my next game. Right now I'm making silverfire - the shinro gene, my next game is just called SilverFire. Anyway, normally I'd just sprite and see how it looks out, but I'm planning on making this next game a 3d game, and i don't think I could just make a model of a character on a whim and make it look good.

So if you didn't guess already, this is a dragon character :p His name is Zesher. I'm not sure if this is how he'll look or not, but it was one of the ideas I had.

I don't claim to be a great artist when it comes to drawing on paper, but I hope its not too bad :-p

So tell me what you think :)

The eyes look like they're at a weird angle. Like, they should be more horizontal or something. Other than that, amazing job bro.

Well, one thing: you put more detail into your dragons than I do. Although I'm still not half bad  :]]

Anyway, pertaining to the picture, yes, it is quite good. The bipedal form is natch, but the pose looks stiff, or to be more specific, the legs... not that I could do any better though. They also look a little short... just a pointer, since he has double-jointed legs, the middle part "should not" be completely horizontal (quoted because it all boils down to the artist, etc. etc.)

Good job! Hope you keep it up!

Pretty good, although the thighs look too short to me. And I'd think if you had the head angled instead of sideways it would look better, although be more difficult to draw. But nice job otherwise.

Well the eyes aren't horozontal becuase the head isn't at a horozontal angle, I'll have to check into that more.

Yeah, the legs aren't the strong point, I was getting sick of drawing by time I got to them :p, plus my pencil eraser was very bad, so once I had something that was somewhat decent, I decided to keep it. Put I know what you meen. I made a little stick figure of "how" he's supposed to look from a side view (its attached at the bottom), its hard for me to translate that to a front view though...

Originally, I was going to draw a front view head, but over the many years I tried to draw front view dragon heads, i could never do it. The head was the last part I drew. I was going to draw his head at a slight angle (that I can actually do), but when I drew a light ovel where his head should be and how big it should be, I just kinda turned that into lines and it became a full side view.  :|

Lol, I cheated, I used ms paint to stretch the legs out a bit more, does this look any better?

Nothing looks distorted, and the legs are longer, good job! This makes up for the middle part being horizontal :p Well, keep it up, hope to see more concept art!

Lol yeah, I just selected the legs with the rectangle selector tool thing. Then I went to image, stretch/scew, and stretched it 120% vertically. Thats why ms paint owns  :vict:

Well there are a few more that I could do.

Sal'ahhadra will have some fancy outfit, and I have no idea how that will go yet.

Nioma and Jarrek have pretty ordinary cloaths, so I'm not going to bother drowing them anytime soon.

Yara will have a nice set of armor, I don't know exactly what that'll be like, so I can draw her.

Keckshio was insprired from a picture I have on my computer, no need to draw him.

Then theres still an 8th character in my game that I haven't decided on yet.

Maybe I should take care of the stuff in my current game first though :p
