Thank you, "States the Obvious" Man.

Dude the platforms were different. This is why its apples and oranges.
Different bitrate...came out later than ct.  So by direct comparison....

MM was sweet, dont get me wrong. MM an LttP were waaay better than other titles I played. But When you look at the differences in release dates in ratio to the general gameplay innovation...

By todays standarsd, CT is pretty clichee. But back then, it was not.

Zeldas first 3 console releases werent all that cliche.
But the series as a whole, hasnt done anything special with itself, aside from non linear time. And it overuses these, in subsequent titles.

Wait, I just got a good question: Can a game posess cliches that it created itself?

No, no it can't. If it created the cliche that just means it was so awesome that everyone tried to copy it poorly.

Im confused now.

How do you mean?

Like, Now in every Zelda Game, the Ocarina, or some mask, is pretty much to be expected......I guess that would be a franchise Trademark.

But then, I think back to Final Fantasy......
Everyone Calls the Crystals Clichee, but FF damn near started that shizzy to my recollection. But thats not a franchise Trademark...Other Games just tend to rip it off.

But then you gotta take into consideration the role Literature plays in it all....

God, Im overthinking this.

Im gonna Say YES.

Because Im sick of that stupid Flute in Zelda.

How are you even comparing the games? They aren't similar. Chrono Trigger is a turn based RPG, Zelda is an action adventure game. Apple and oranges. Chrono Trigger is an amazing game, and so is Zelda. But they are amazing in different ways. Don't over analyze things!

Just before I say anything, I am a big fan of both games, but when it comes down to it, Zelda OoT was the better of the two.

Both brought new concepts and worlds into the industry, that are seen in a whole slew of titles, both at the time had top-notch graphics, and both you could easily find yourself lost into.

However, in the end Zelda held my attention longer... MUCH longer, I am looking at a 50 hour difference, when I play a game, I play to complete it. Zelda's hunt for items, hearts and other mysteries kept me going for a long *** time, always intent to complete (Although I did NOT get all the golden Skultullas.) Chrono Trigger I thought was much to linear compared to Zelda, although you could challange the final boss at anytime, if you are like me, you were going to wait till the last chance, after you saw the whole story for what it was. Zelda opened up a new world, Chrono Trigger did not.

You can argue that Chrono Trigger did change dramatically frequently, by changing Era's in which you played, but if you think about it, so did Zelda, only it provided one large change in atmosphere, isntead of one.

OoT comes ahead in just about every aspect for me.

Oh, and just so you know, I thought Majora's mask was much better than Oot.

Never was much of a fan of Chrono Trigger. I'd have to play it more to offer a complete opinion though.

But, OoT, and subsequently, MM were excellent games. They have to keep some things in the game the same, or they would be completely unrelated.

Plight's comment about the Ocarina being overused. Well, compare the Ocarina to Excalibur in the FF series. It has been in every game (as far as I know) and it is expected to be there. Just like Moogles and Chocobos, which can be compared to Zelda's unique races.

I love OoT and MM, OoT a bit more because it came out first and just was excellent. I loved MM, but OoT I have played so many times, and never gotten bored. MM is a bit more challenging, and I can never remember where to go next. OoT just seems to stick in my mind a lot more.

well chrono trigger is good..why because it had a anime to go along with it.  And the anime was pretty damn good.  Zelda on the other has released way more games now...it does'nt matter about the past lets think now..the future..i vote for neither..why you say?  Because they are both very good games..

Perhaps you can't compare them, but you still say which game you like better.

Zelda OoT should win by miles, shame on you charas. v_v

I've never played the Chrono series or even Majora's mask. But I must say, Ocarina of Time is one of the greatest games (If not THE greatest game) known the man.

Hazaar for the Virtual Console, amirite?

I'm not gonna go into details, but here's two simple reasons why CT is better. Even though I do agree with the whole apples and oranges comparison, I'll say anyway.
1. CT has Zeal. Zeal > j00
2. Crono is a silent pimp, he doesn't even have to say anything and girls rush to him. Link is gay. Crono > Link

The above are SIMPLE reasons, but that's all it takes. And don't get me wrong, I loved OoT and MM. I just like CT better, is all. And CC too. :D
