Easiest way is to copy the charset and paste it into an already existing charset that works (for example the ones in the RTP folder).
Then but it above one of the existing charsets and make sure that its feets will be at the same place as the charset that were there before so that the charset will be in center when you use it.

Oh god, I remember that game.

For the record, I hate Kacheeks and Chias. Jubjubs are okay, I suppose. I like the Eyrie more than all of those, though.

Okay, I'm stopping now.

If you don't have Photoshop, get a free copy of Graphics Gale. That is not only a very powerful and reliable art program, but it's also very good at creating palates for 256 color images.

 Download site.

You can do it in Paint, too. I've been doing it like that for ages. Just open it in Paint and save it as a 256 color bitmap, and then resave it as a .png to reduce the file size. Delete the bitmap afterwards and import the new .png to your game, and enjoy.

Also, am I the only person who wasn't dragged into that game?

Reducing color in Paint will restrict the image to only the default 256 system combination of colors, which are mostly disgusting, plain shades and web colors that aren't often used in spriting.

Unless you're talking about a different form of the program paint, then I don't know.

You could Trim all the green around it to make it small enough to fit as a "monster"

Import it As a "Monster" File, Use the Shade bar to change it to a different color and then take a screenshot.
Copy and paste it to a 256 color bmp and save it.

the BMP's 256 colors will have to be present on the palette before you paste it or you'll have color loss.
A way of getting around that is using the Gradient tool on Idraw to make the colors similar to what you want.
Though, What you want is fairly simple so I doubt the color loss will be to bad.

If you don't have Idraw, Just copy it onto a characterset that already exists that has the colors you already want.
Ehh, I know this is kind of confusing, But If you figure it out, You can have a bunch of different colored... Jelly... Chia...things...
