I'm outta here...
« on: November 13, 2007, 11:31:00 PM »
Well, since everyone seems to agree with coastercrazy with how I am, I'll spare you all of my negative, but truthful, comments and get the hell outta here. I refuse to be like a zombie like everyone else and call everything I see as good.

If people want me to stay, fine, I'll consider it. But it seems that little comic showed everyone's opinion of me.

See ya, or whatever...

Really, I've told you this before, you're an alright guy, but damned if you aren't an arrogant, pompous, talk-out-of-your-*** mother ****er. I've been on charas long enough where I'm getting tired of people using "I can't lie about games not being good like you all" because really, it's just a tired, loaded excuse. Most people here prefer that you express your opinion on things using observations, but no one likes observations based on **** pulled from a hat. A prime example is in my art thread where you debated with Rev about the necessity of using references to study the human form, where anyone with any mind about art would have known he was right.

I actually like your criticism.

You just seem to forget that this site is dying, and that one of the only ways to revive it is with new members. This includes the 12 year olds who don't know what they're doing. You have to be nice to them. If it's  someone else with some sense, THEN you can tell it all.

Well, I'm pretty damn new to these forums. I don't even know what happened for this thread to come up. Anyway, I have seen Dragoon de Sol's criticism and well, a lot of the times I agreed with it, it's just that I guess you have to study the people that you give such criticism to. In my opinion, an artist that cannot take bad criticism, has a lot to learn about the way of being an artist, you cannot improve on only good criticism, in fact you cannot improve at all without bad criticism.

That's all.

Hell, I've been here only 2 days and I can agree with, some, of his critisisms... but also... you need critisism to move forward in art...

Don't let one little horribly-made comic convince you that you should leave.

It would be so amazing if you criticized the comic, because quite frankly I'm kinda insulted that it's a parody of my own work.

I personally think that you're one of the most honest people here. Although I agree with Gemini that it's an excuse that gets used way too much, at least you mean it when you give a negative opinion. Don't you dare leave, we need your truthfulness.

I really don't have a problem with your oppinion or what I knwo about you. Only thing that bothers me is the way you tell people things.
There is a difference between giving someone criticism and ****.

Sometimes it's hard for not-so-very-american/english people to actually understand what you are saying and rather relate to a pick of words they've seen on tv.

Yeah... Someone said that diplomancy and pedagogy is a way to tell someone to go to hell so they will enjoy the thought.

Try it out, just be a bit more pedagogic when you tell people your thoughts so it won't confused with ***hole-ness.
'Cuz, you state your oppinion just as you should, but you kinda' tell them it in a wrong way, at least the wrong way for those people mentioned above (mainly 10-15 year olds who can't handle criticism.

I've stated my oppinion, we need a person who doesn't just praise the new ones, just think about how you tell them and it'll be ok.

Yupp, it will be just fine.

Find something good about it: say it. Then find the thing you think needs most improvement and say that. That formula works with everyone. After that, depending on the person, you can criticise more or whatever.

I'd prefer it if you didn't leave, since you're a fairly decent regular. You certainly don't need to tell everyone their work's amazing, but you need to remember that you're helping them improve, not trashing their work.

The thing about criticism is that it's only good if you give suggestions on how to improve. It's also good to make sure that the person being criticized is actually looking for the criticism, because let's face it, though many people do want some help, not all people want brutal honesty. Some already think, and sometimes do, already have sufficient skill to get things done, and would therefore take criticism as redundant. Even an insult.

I noticed you were beginning to get a bit overly critical waaaay back around June this year. I was like 'Dragoon, what are you doing?!' But I wanted to be polite, and decided to keep down. I knew somebody else would say something, criticizing the way you dealt criticism.

And they did. And now you're leaving the site. Don't let that dishearten you. Your criticism was taken into account by some, and by others, was disregarded as a flame, but nonetheless, after giving out way too many pieces of criticism, and after only taking about 3 days worth of criticism from others after they noticed you, you leave? Come on, that's not the kind of action I'd expect from you!

Well, okay, I don't know what I'd expect, but leaving after that is just blowing it out of proportion. We've already told you we don't want you to leave, we'd just like you to voice opinions in a slightly more polite manner.

In that thread, you are going to have to excuse me, but trying to change someone's style by attempting to manipulate them so they can make things the way you want them to it's just not appropiate. It's okay to give an opinion, and even though a lot of people say "this is my style" just to get out of it is extremely overused, this time around, I think he was being honest, given the fact that he said he was going to fix what he saw as flaws and not necessarily as something he meant to do.

There's a limit to criticism, in fact there's a limit to everything.

This really wasn't what I was intending. Honestly, if I may bitch for once, can I just say that I NEVER go out and express my opinion here because of this happening?

PARODY!? I was LAUDING your work. I apologize for sucking at any sort of art, but there are many things I know I can't do that I try once in a while anyway (SINCERE TONE). I almost threw in a comment at the end about how much I agreed with you on things. I'm a bit surprised to hear you say that.  :blue-eye:

I did say I apologized if it was that bad Dragoon. It appears no one read my last post. It must have been too long.

EDIT: I was just reading the screenshot thread. If it helps to know, I was not referring to that! You did absolutely nothing wrong there and I think your critiquing was much appreciated. I just don't understand why you can't be more like that when it comes to games.
