A steam gun just sounds...useless, especially seeing as realistically the steam would dissipate before it hits anything.
Unless of course, it was a steady stream, and it was used as a flame-thrower type weapon.

you know, revolvers, muskets, guns etc are pretty common in steampunk. Its a visual thing, not set in stone.
Much steampunk themed art involves combustion. I saw an awesome VW bus zepplin painting.
I guess its more neo-steampunk, but you guys are thinking to much about little things, and not enough about just making things badass.

He will get a simple b-char set, and a nicer monster graphic wherein he rides a mechanical thing/pair of things resembling geminiman from MM3.
I wanted to get a bit of doctor wily in there somehow, while keeping the geminiman theme.
