Why did Watchmen get some bad reviews?

I must admit, that made me laugh.

I thought the movie was boring. I'm not into the super serious super hero movies. Im more of an Iron Man and spiderman guy. Im also not a fan of DC comics.

I read the Watchmen and V for Vendetta.  Alan Moore has some great stuff.

Has anyone ever tried to read League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?  I get confused and and up giving it back to my friend.  I guess I'm stupid like that.

Every last intricate detail was perfect, it resembled the graphic novel with unrivalled precision.

Have you read the graphic novel? I don't meant to be insulting but, you know, you might wanna revisit it. Just off the top of my head:
-The VERY FIRST SCENE; 300 style VOOM VOOM
-ENTIRE black psychiatrist sidestory removed
-ENTIRE news vendor/black freighter sidestory removed
-Rorscach's saw scene
-Plenty of extra violence- including hanging ceiling guts, wtf?
-Nite Owl 1, more like Nite owl barely even had any lines
-Veidt turned from a sympathetic, troubled character into a dark, weedy little ****er
-No way did silk spectre look like that
-Nite Owl going NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

And obviously no giant squid. There's nothing wrong with the movie, but it just isn't special. It's well adapted from a "We copied certain lines exactly" point of view- but then, why is that something to be proud of? I can read sh*t and remember it later too. There just doesn't seem to be any deeper understanding of the novel. Veidt is turned from a moral dilemma into a straight-up eaasy-to-hate bastard-weirdo. Frames are cut out to make way for ultra-violence. The human sidestories are removed completely, the perspective they offer completely ignored. I don't know if these things were cut to make the movie more palatable to the general moviegoing sh*tmuncher or are genuine fumbles, but they cheapened the experience, for me at least. I have to agree with gemini's sentiment. The movie isn't bad, it just smacks of needlessness.

Still, I suppose if it gets more people to read the novel, that's no bad thing.[/spoiler]

Watched up until the guy with the weird face did something to that guy who burned the girl. After that, I just didn't feel like watching it anymore. Although hearing mother shout 'THERE IT IS!' was funny as hell.

I would consider reading the novels, I never really have read anything of DC or Marvel, but this eriously makes me consider buying one.

Watchmen, V for vendetta, From hell, League of extraordinary gentlemen... The guy's a genius and incredibly flexible.

Anyway, the film... I know one thing that was wrong with it. Silk Spectre 2's wooden acting. I'm not saying it was a bad movie but you can't label it perfect with such a terrible piece of acting from one of the lead cast.
