Feature Suggestion Thread
« on: October 28, 2004, 06:15:46 PM »
Righto.  Got a feature you want to see in SEER?  Post the idea here (with a little info on how it would work), because I won't be reading individual topics as much as I did before my lengthy absence.  I'll check this thread quite often, though, and take on board anything which 1) I think is a good idea and 2) has some reasonable backing from members.

As for posting other topics, feel free to post question topics, or anything you might want me to read or see, or even just asking for a small update.  I'm going to be more lenient with the rules than I was before.

Anyone asking for screenshots will just get a  :badboy: smiley, though.

Enjoy.

Wow, cool idea, create an maker!!Good luck!!

I was thinking if you can make the movement pixel by pixel (Not square by square like RPG Maker).Oh, and use something like Battle Charsets to make enemies.By the way, how will be the battle engine?

TNX and good luck!!!!! :jumpin:  :hi:

Animated monsters, maybe? That would be cool, but hard to make, aye?

Pixel-by-pixel movement - A certainty.
DLL Expansion - I'm looking into the possibility.
Animated Monsters - Another certainty.

Some suggestions:

- A sort of (limited) programming language, like in that event thing.

- Possibility of skinning the program, so we don't have to look at the same layout.

- Movable toolbars, in case we would ever need to move them.

- Minimap.

Wow, GaryCXJk, long time no speak.  How's things?

- Yeah, I've been hassled about this, so I will include something along that vein.
- Skins are nice, so yeah.
- Sure thing, I'll make them hideable as well.
- A possibility.  I'll probably leave it as a codeable option, rather than in-build it.

Built in CBS, such as...

Tactics

Hack and Slash

And a Battle Character Maker, for each of the different Modes.

- There will be different battle systems to choose from, but what they are I won't decide until later.
- Battle character maker is a certainty
- Diagonal walking is a certainty (and can be switched off)
- The battle movements will have to be quite extensive for some of the features I'm planning.

More ideas!
« Reply #11 on: October 31, 2004, 03:19:20 PM »
Hehe, I already have more ideas!Hunn...They are:

-Database Editor (To add more status, more Item types, etc...);
-Item limiter (You can place a limit or let it as infinite...);
-Music composer (We need it very much);
-Duh;
-Minigame creator (To help creating some mini-games, like races, card games, etc...);
-Voice reproducer (Set an text to create voices!But how you can do it??);
-Let the program as Open Source!!

Good luck (Again!)!!!!!

Obs.: How the maker is going?

Also sound effects shouldn't be wavs like in rm2k/3. They take up space badly and therefore almost makes it impossible to make a game with speach. Oh, and also BGS like in RmXP would be neat!

Heh, open source would allow me to rename it Moose Maker and run away :P

The music composer could be done, as long as you learn how to write midi-code you're all set there.

How about allowing us to NOT include the built in resources, if there are any.

And perhaps we can choose the frames of animation in a walking or battle stance.

Make sure to include built in variables in case someone goes CBS or CMS.

Built in tutorial, please.

- Database editor is a certainty.  It's a useful tool.
- Item limiting is in, yah, but I won't allow for infinite (just a high amount instead)
- I might supply a music composer, but it's not one of my main aims.  An automated music composer is a definite no-no.
- There's no point in a minigame creator, you can do it all through the various options.
- Voice reproducer is a no-no - Reproducing phonemes is a major task, and I'd need several decades to get it to the standard anyone could use it at.  In fact, most voice reproduction units are severely flawed (just look at Microsoft SAM, for instance)
- Open source is a possibility, but I'm still deliberating whether to make this a commercial product.
- WAV sound effects will be allowed, but other formats will be allowed as well.
- Not including the built-in resources is a certainty.  After all, I doubt there will be many built-in resources (if any)
- Built-in variables are a certainty, although I might include an option to remove them if unnecessary.
- I'm planning an example game which should demonstrate 90% of the features and how to use them.  Any additional tutorials I will release later.
