Toyko 0.o Is this because of anime? Cuz if it is...  _ghost_

Meh, it'd be pretty cool, at least it would be if I could speak japanese. I wouldn't want to travel to any place where I couldn't speak their language.

Besides, I like waking up in the morning, looking out my window, and gaze upon the beuatiful site of my big red barn. Well maybe not, but the corn fields are fun, hehe.

Anyway, when I traveled though the states, I found just the oposite, people were very welcoming, they weren't mean, they weren't selfish, and they weren't all divided like I thought. The media and the news spend so much time talking about the few bad things that happen, that people get the impression that thats all there is out there, when in reality, its just the opposite. Or maybe I was just lucky in my travels.

Worst American City = Detroit. Don't bother arguing. Almost the entire city is a ghetto. I used to live close by (in Windsor, Canada) and I heard about at least 5 gang shootings a week... it was crazyness.

Depends on where you go. From what I've experienced; all southern countries, as I'd expect, wouldn't be too welcoming of foreigners. Most northeastern states are very welcoming, especially here in NY. Other than that; I have no clue about northern inland and northwestern states.

I also like Tokyo; not because of Anime, but because... There never seems to be nobody on the street at any time. You could say the same for another big city, such as New York or Chicago, but at late night in those places, the people on the streets at that time tend to have no self-respect. In other words, at those times, you'll find a lot of muggers and prostitutes on the street. I can't say the same for Tokyo; as far as I can see, Tokyo, even if it is a big city, has a very low crime rate.

As for american cities, I can speak of a few I've been to.

Orlando, Florida was decent. Lot's of toruist attractions, but I would definetely wouldn't be suprised if such a place was bustling with crime.

San Diego was great in my time (was living there from 96-99), the keywords being "In my time", I know that that place has become much more dangerous...

Palo alto (Lived there from 92-95) was boring.

Here in Rochester (99-06), It's also boring.

Boston looked a little run-down, but it was decent. Quite a big place.

Washington DC was also impressive, but... The AMMOUNT of BUMS on the street was obscene, and the hotel rooms that we were given (It was a school trip.) Were CRAP.

So overall, America is Meh.

You obviously didn't see much. There are some good parts, but if you look, you'll find the shitty parts. Places where the average income is less than $10,000 a year, places where immigrants who can barely speak English gather to be picked up to go do manual labor at a crappy pay rate, places where you'll get mugged if you don't protect yourself.

That's pretty cool, I never knew that about tokyo, I just assumed it was just another big city except half way across the globe and full of people who I wouldn't be able to communicate with :(

I don't go to many big cities when I travel, so I don't have much experiance with them. I spent a week in Las Vagas once cuz I was in this Junior Olimpic tourny type thing, and the streets were always packed. Though the people there seemed nice enough, from what I remember, the city was well kept up and all. Thoug there was a little rain storm, and since las vagas is in the middle of a desert, they didn't have a good drainage system, so some streets were flooded when there was only about 2 inches of rain.

I've also been to chicago and detriot, but I didn't spend much time in them, basically we just drove through. I don't think they would be places I would like to visit.

I mainly visit and stay in small towns. Right now the town I'm living in has 2000 people, not too big, not too small. The crazy part is last year when we went on a vacation to florida, we went to sea world for a day, there we met another couple from our town (we didn't know them). Somehow we started talking and we asked them where they were from, it was some coincidence. Then we also met the parents of the owner of our big store in our town (big meaning having 5 isles). It reminded me of that creepy ride in disney world "its a small world after all.."

I think America is the greatest country in the world, I really like Texas.
I've been to a lot of states, and I didn't really hear any difference in accents.
Everyone talks the same as me. :/

Yeah, mostly everyone has the same accent, or so subtle that you can't tell. Except Kentucky, I ate breakfast there once, for the longest time I was wondering what the hell aigs were. It turns out, thats their word for eggs  :| Anyway, that area is the only area where I noticed an accent.

0.o The US has 50 states, 48 which are "in" it. Well wait, Rhode island is an island too, so that would make 47. Besides Alaska and Hawaii, which other state isn't "in" the US?

There are only 46 states. 4 of the "50" states are commonwealths. 2 of them I know, the other two I forgot. Kentucky and Maryland (I think) are commonwealths.

According to dictionary.com, the commonwealths are  Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
