New chipset stuff I've been screwing with. Still have a bit to add, like a waterline and such.

Also, everything in the screen (other than the waterfall, fish, and hero) is a part of the chipset. Water/weeds/grass animates via "sub tile" command.

Its sweet dude.

I like it better than your other maps for some reason.

I quite like the waterfalls, and would like to see it animated.

I wish you used XP, and we traded chips like dorky...um....dorks.

Meiscool.  The Charas Master of Maps.

I love it.  I like the chipset.  :)  How did you make the waterfall?

I think I see where gemini is coming from. This map looks open-spaced, yet full.

My only gripe with it would be that the hills are a little too orange.

My game may not be isometric anymore, but I've taken what I've learned and tried to make new chipsets with it. I'm surprised with what I've come up with.

It's no where near finished, but I think it looks cool. I'm working on finding matching stuff to put in it. The shadows are set up like Mac & Blue and Theodore. It even has lights even though I don't show them.

Personally, I've never really liked the realistic/drab graphics of theo. The tiles so far look cool though. Might be hard to find good charasets to fit the style?

A Forgotten Legend: The fronts of the waterfalls (the stuff you can actually see) is a charaset based on a rip from SD3. The side and backs of the waterfalls are sorta mini-customs based off of one of the rudra water tiles.

Please do not rip from the screens.

EDIT:
I tried posting an image, but it kept getting resized.

Looks decent. I'd personally like to see a few more colors go into the backgrounds or sprites.

Also, is the beackground animated durring the charge up? It looks like it's in the same place in each screen.

They're actually that quality on purpose.

I love the nostalgia of those kind of graphics, so I made them that way ^^.

As for the background, I've already fixed that.

I can't rip those house tile, you made the cliffs sunsety and under water ones to which is what I'm trying to do right now with my rips. I know I'm not on your best list but could you put those house tiles and rocks on a seprate chipset and Pm it to me. You'll get full credit. (how do you spell cees?)

Cease maybe?  Or is that a different word?
Can anyone tell me a good free program to record your screen?  I want to record the choreography for a scene in my game for you people to watch.

Dude....you know what would like...put the icing on the cake? The tiles are drab. I like em. But a tin screen command with the saturation level down a few points...
It wouldnt be very dramatic...But it would make the Sprite blend in even better. I really like these tiles though. It looks great as is. Id like to see a finished map with these. You win.

Cool. I got a comment.
« Reply #1258 on: April 27, 2007, 10:14:55 PM »
Thanks. I'll try lowering the saturation a bit later.
Edit: Maybe not. I'm actually going for rich in color and not drab. I don't want my game to look depressing.

When I said "set up like theodore and refmap," I mean't how the tiles were arranged on the chipset.

(What I use is stolen, so it takes a while to do anything good though. Otherwise, it's like iDraw.)

Come to think of it gemini how do you usually pic colors? I like to fill my chipsets up with little detail sprites, but I can't really get them to match.

I'll post some new screens soon. I just need help on tat.

For colours I like to Use like, Pastels, And I kind of Mute them with a Grey tint, But make sure they are a bit overtly bright. Then I do the lowering of a saturation, and sometimes a very transperant fog overlay. It gives an overcast look when the saturation is low and the fog is more visible, and when the saturation is higher it looks sunny-ish as long as the overlay is still barely visible.

Another big thing I do is never use Black. Never pure black. The closest thing to black I use is a Deep greyed Blue or brown, and then if the time comes that I ever need to use the colour black, it has much more dramatic effect, and stands out way more.

But yeah....Muted pastels dude. Then you can pull off Bright colours, or drab overcast.
Then if your grapics are even super cartoony, you can make the lighting look authentic to some extent.

EDIT: I havent posted much here lately. Ill show you later
