My graphical makings over the month.

I'd like to release them to the public, but I know they'd be gobbled up instantly.

I don't like the trees in the top left screen.

But everything else is just peachy. I love the inside screen.

Meis, I like the "interior" shot.  The chipset looks really nice.
The room looks great too.
The second battle screen looks neat too. (although at first I thought the one tree was attached to the guy)
The other maps look like all you other maps, so I have nothing else to say.
(I didn't mean that in a bad way!   :blue-eye: )

They look good. However, are you going to keep the red background for the HUD? It hurts my eyes, something like Blue, Black or a less saturated color would be better, I think.

Meis, I actually think your maps have gotten a little worse. It's like you've taken what was good and exaggerated it until it's bad.

AFL, You should make the small-to-large tree ratio in the forest to the south a bit more even. I think that'd make the forest look better.

As far as I'm concerned with MT11's comment, he's right. Must be the result of too much praise, eh? But really, I think your mix of M&B and those other sets doesn't work too well. Also, there's this random darkened band in the middle of one of your maps, which doesn't make much sense.

Hey Meiscool, all your screen shots look great! But I have two questions, 1)Where did you get the Jonathon and Charlotte sprites, and 2)May I post in your topic again, I've stopped for a long time and I was wondering if I could get a second chance?

I love your edits meiscool, I really do, but I'm gonna kind of agree with MT11 on this one, you're maps are a little cluttered man and it's just kinda hard to tell what's going on in some of them. I think though, you could make some intense 3D maps if you ever had the resources to do so.

Personally Meis, it looks like you are having the same problem that I'm having, and that's the colors you're choosing. It looks like you are taking one color from one sprite, using that color inside of another, therefore forcing them to match. I used to do that all the time.

Like, you used the color of the Rudra's Treasure wood, and recolored the Seiken Densetsu (sp?) tables and beds to match it to force them to match. The Mac & Blue tents, Rudra houses, and the SD sand being all the same color, next to the bright and shiny colored stuff (Plants, mountains) look bad to me.

In that sunny, cliff area you posted earlier with the orange hills, I noticed you used the same color as the mud.

Your maps themselves look fantastic, but the colors don't blend. Instead of taking surrounding colors, I think you should find matching colors instead. I'm using this thing

http://hlrnet.com/colormatch/

and some help sites. I coud even edit some of your chipsets if you want. I've gotten better.

Still not done with my chipsets...Taking so damn long.

Bluhman: The dark spot is a picture cloud. Having taken more than one screenshot, sometimes the pictures don't line up.

Ocean: Yeah, the red is just the background color untill I find something I like. I typically use red or pink as my background colors in paint.

Pixelmaster: The charlotte sprite is at The Spriters Resource. The Soma one is mine. No, you can't post in my topic because I don't really have one.

About: Yeah... I use the same colors for pretty much everything. Most my rocks/cliff faces have the same colors, most my water is the same, most my plants/flowers use the same greens, my bushes and trees all have the same colors, and everything wooden uses the same colors. I really don't think finding new colors will help with the difference in style between the game's spriting. Also, it appears you like drab more than vivid, so there's a clash of interests.

As to the clutter thing... I really don't map for games anymore. I just map to make cool looking places, and typically open space doesn't reflect the look of "awesome". Once I'm finished with a bunch of my edits, I'd like to put them all in a thread and show a few example screens of how they could be used here and there.

I'm gonna try to go on to making my own XP chipsets and scripts. Hopefully, it will be more fun than 2003, because I'm kinda feed up with that :p

First time I've tried this, still new to these forums so lesse if this comes out ok...

I'm not exactly the best mapper I admit. In fact I would rather work on events, stoyline, and the database itself than the actual mapping itself. But since I'm doing it all myself I have no choice.  :s

Anyways here's a map from my game. I think this is how you guys throw your screeny's together didn't bother to look that far into detail. :P

Not the best mapping I know. It's the entrance to an underground temple which extends into the mountains. I plan to make the area a mix between the temple, and an outdoor mountainy area where you can see the town below. Sounds intresting to me. :D

It looks quite good. I would change some of your events though. The statues, door, and painting have very different colors that look kinda odd.
