I see what you mean.

I forgot to tell you that I never beat this game. It was deleted before I had the chance, which is where Witch King and your review went. This doesn't need a review. It deserves a 10/10 imo.

I did redownload it recently though, and I will finish it when I have the time. Keep up the good work.

For Version 0.3:

I've installed a Map and Journal system into the game. Now, you can use your map to check where you are, and for reference of where things are in the city. The Journal can be used to keep track of your current task at hand.

Anyway, here's a picture of the map.

Well, I just finished the second demo, and...

Wow. you're a miracle worker. How did you manage to keep battles interesting with just one character???

The dodging system was used just enough to make it a constant feature without getting tiresome or predictable, so that's amazing too.

The limit break system is a lot like in one of my old games. It does add another layer to the battles, especially when Bosses have limit breaks too.

The overall feel of the game is brilliant. You really haven't taken shortcuts when it comes to making little poses for charsets and such. The chipsets are well chosen and fit, and the voice SFX are my favourite part of the game XD

Also, the weird layer of humour over everything really helps the plot along.

There are a few problems. Like Sai said, poison is a bugger without the ability to go back for antivenom (I fought for loads of battles having to use burgers to keep my health up). Also, you've forgotten to use some important switches (When I went back to the AUB base and talked to the secretary on a whim, she sent me to bluhman's office again and the entire scene played out, so I had to quit and visit the mayor again XD)

Overall, wow. If there was a journal of active missions and you added that map, we're looking at the beginning of a fantastic game.

It has been a little over 1 month since I last updated this thread. Needless to say, I've been rather addicted to City of Heroes for the time being (which is in fact what this game is partly based off of). But fear not, I'm beginning to pick up bits and parts of the project again. If I manage my time well, this game will be on track, and I'll still be able to do some of the other things I enjoy... Hopefully... If Damned Drivers ED doesn't get in the way.

So anyway, the only breakthrough of the moment is yet another mini-system that the game will surely have, due to its simplicity to implement:

Traits-

Traits are special, attachable... Well, traits for a character, which add special stat boosts, resistances, and other neat bonuses to characters they are equipped on. The traits are all inserted into the Misc. Section of the equipment tray, which had previously never been used. Now, you might be thinking, "But how is this revolutionary, and why the hell should we care!?" The effects of these traits are very big, often having HUGE effects on your characters. Or minor ones, either way, here's a few sample Traits that can be applied to characters:

Super-Reflexes:
With this trait, the given character will naturally dodge more attacks, and will also have a boosted speed. This is the default trait equipped on Chisoku.

Trained Mind:
Trained mind gives the character who has it complete and utter resistance to Confusion, Sleep, and Berserk effects. This is the default trait equipped on Bluhman.

Bionic:
Bionic gives the character it's placed on added attack and defense, as well as boosts to resistance to Piercing, Blunt, Fire, Ice, and Energy damage.

Super Athletic:
Super Athletic halves the endurance cost of all skills for a character, and offers a very hefty agility boost. This allows characters to do more actions in a lesser amount of turns, without having to worry about their endurance running out.

Practiced Brawler:
Practiced Brawler gives the character it's on complete resistance against Insta-Death attacks, Berserk, Confuse, Sleep, Paralysis, and Stun effects. Extremely useful against bosses who often disable your characters.

Regenerative:
Whoever has this trait will have the *Regen* effect placed upon them, and thus will automatically recover 2% of their health each turn of combat.

Prolific:
This is a default trait for a future character. The character has natural resistance to all attack types, excluding Psionic, and also gives boosted defense.

Hover:
A rather basic trait, could be placed on anyone. This offers extra agility in combat, as well as offering the character the ability to avoid terrain damage.

That's just a bit of the icing on the cake. There's going to be a lot of different traits that can be applied to characters, all of which have their own uses. Other features of this trait system include:

-Several levels of different traits - Traits that increase different stats can possibly even have several levels of effectiveness. Of course, they'll be more costly to buy in stores.

-Trait locking - After placing traits into your trait slot, they can't come out until you... Do something... Not sure what, though. Can't think of any real logical explanation of how you'd lose traits and replace them with others.

-Trait combining? - This would probably become a huge undertaking, but it would also be extremely efficient and useful. Though, there would most likely be a limit as to how many you can combine. Like, at most, two.

In other news, I think it's time I revealed to you ANOTHER CHARACTER BIOOOOOO!!!

TRI EMERALD-

Name:Elizabeth Hyral
Age:17
Height:5'9
Weight:128 Lbs
Eye Color:Green (Third eye is Yellow.)
Hair Color: Red (Looked sorta brown in the demo, though.)

Tri Emerald was a girl born with a third eye. Because of this, she was seen by others as a weirdo, and made her a feared and abused outcast from the rest of her peers. By the age of 12, Emerald had discovered her ability to use the third eye to project her thoughts into her surroundings, giving her great powers. When she had abused the power in high school at age 17, she was expelled, and was abandoned by her parents. Left on the streets, she was almost invited into the legions of the Fractured Helix, a malicious gang of mutant humans with incredible deformities and powers, when she was taken in by Bluhman, and accepted membership into the Alpha Force.

Emerald's third eye gives her great power. She has the ability to move things with her mind, fire mental projections, capable of great physical damage, and to create shields with her mind. Her mental abilities also enable her to flight. Her only limitation to her powers is her levels of confidence and hope in her powers. Aside from the powers offered by the eye, she was also physically toned through training in the Alpha Force, and is now able to sprint at speeds of 11MPH and able to bench a good 92 Lbs.

When not fighting, Beth often keeps things in order at the Alpha Force Base. She has a great sense of organization and style, and tends to be very precise and decisive. She is very shy, and does not particularly enjoy talking to people who classify her as a freak. She's quite quiet and tries her hardest not to draw attention. Though she was expelled from her school, she still is being educated by Bluhman, who is able to teach Beth what she needs to know.

Her costume consists of black tights with green designs on them. She wears leather gloves and boots with matching designs, and also wears a silver utility belt. Her tights also have an orange jewel emblem on them.

Yay for the poor little third-eye girl becoming an actual character!

I never did properly sum up what a breath of fresh air this whole game was. It's really a shame about that whole impossible dodge thing you had before; the game deserves far more credit than its getting.

Still on this. Here's a working screenshot on the coming Churchill District. It's shortly south of the University. More info will be posted on this area later. Maybe.

Sweet, played it and loved it so far. And I can't see any reason why it should go downhill now when it is so good.

Love the town by the way.

'Kay. So I got Tri-Emeralds Charset done.

I just need to finish her battle animations, and then the 3rd demo will most likely be ready for the nets.

Edit: Well, not QUITE yet. I still have to patch up the Churchill District and give it the necessary shops and stuff. In the meantime, here's a bigger person:

I'm loving the battle background. Some might complain about meshing and whatnot, but I think it looks pretty awesome.

And btw, is it me or did you take an idea out of Star Ocean 2 with the three-eyed girl?

I was slightly aware that there was a 3-eyed girl in SO2, but that definitely wasn't what I was thinking when I designed the character.

A superhero alias and actual name. Bluhman's probably matters the least, though. Everyone just calls him Bluhman at practically every point in the game, save for a few glaring instances of being called Alfrod.
