I doubt it will make me feel better since it's forced.

Don't be discouraged! This game will lose so much if you stop contributing. These chips, especially the latest, positively stink of quality. People just want to get the most out of you, you know?

You are one of the best and proficient pixellers we've seen here. A rare commodity. When cut pressed, everyone will admit that.

I don't like how they don't have edges either, but they're the only steam chips I know of.

There definitely are edges. The edges are simply a darker shade than the interior color.

If you want to get all realistic, and I know you do because you bitched about the perspective, black outlines don't actually exist in real life.

I didn't want it to be realistic, just consistent. I'd prefer if you had no perspective and black outlines and it looked good.
Sorry if I'm ignoring your grueling hours of pixel, but I thought you wanted some criticism.

Excellent job for a newbie, I'd say.

After all that dryness an "excellent job for a newbie" sounds like garbage. No offense, but some of you guys are being really craptastic lately in your critiques. The perspective thing was good to point out, but now your saying simple is better. :\

Your opinion on the perspective is more than a mite questionable as well. A rectangular top of a bookcase doesn't exist unless you're looking down from directly above it. You're basically asking me to replace a view that's right from only one angle with a view that's wrong from every angle.

And I find calling me a newbie patronizing. I'm striving for something that's up to speed with most other chipsets out there. A newbie wouldn't even bother with something as complex and taxing as a chipset.

//That's just what I prefer. You like "realism" and I don't.

Well then accept the critique.

You're overreacting. This is amongst the most impressive chipset work we've seen from a charas member; especially if we're only talking about rm2k3. However, people are used to the fact that you're skilled now, so they're mostly giving critique to look intelligent and help improve it. If everyone just replies with "Wow! This stuff's amazing!" then the thread doesn't really go anywhere, you know?

I agree about the lighter outlines; I was never a fan of them either. But what you've got here is pretty impressive; especially the animated stuff which is awesomesauce. A game made entirely in this style would look incredible considering the lack of graphical creativity amongst most rm2k games. I'd definately use this.

For suggestions, I think some sort of weird treadmill would look kinda cool.

Oh yeah...forgot to post some suggestions
How about some gyroscopes?
Or some Tesla Coils
Yes, some steampunk games (Arcanum) have electricity

Well lets not forget that Victor Von Frankenstein's lab is considered around in the steampunk era.

Yeah, a gyroscope would look especially cool. Thanks.

DF, if you're harboring any suggestions, you're welcome to share.

Well, I was thinking of the old fashion Frankenstein-type lab with the huge switches, tesla coils, random electron equipment that serves no obvious purpose.

And like random bubbling chemicals. That's pretty much the steampunk lab. Electronic gear and sophisticated science in steampunk were reduced to weird gadgets that when we look at them today were utterly useless.
