Oh, I thought you were asking if it were possible....I kinda gotta finish this chip and then try my hand at facesets first.

That's fine. I won't need it till I'm done with the second demo since it should take about two to finish the first planet. So don't worry, take your time with it.

There's two things you are incredibly good at, here. Decoratives / little stuff (doors, pillars, trashcans, windows, fans, boilers, etc.) as well as textures. Structure and perspective you aren't so good at. But you definately have potential to be the best spriter around.

The roof of the mansion thing, in paticular, is out of perspective... And so was the bed from a while back. And the depth of almost everything. When you give things depth, it... doesn't really work right. Specifically, the second apartment shot, when you added the buldge, it seemed to bring down the shot.

Mostly, I'd say you know how to make everything you just have to learn how to put it together. All in all, really terrific job.

Also, Lateralus ftw.

I agree -- I think my biggest flaw is, while I can make individual parts, I have difficulty bringing everything together (the perspective problems are part of this). A lot of the flaws here could be fixed by simply borrowing from other chipsets or modifying some of their content, but I have a nagging desire to make everything mine.

However, I'd like to emphasize that it's impossible to get perspective anywhere near correct from the viewpoint RM2K3 is in. It may be that I'm not as put off by the perspective issues as everyone else seems to be, but that may be partly because I made it. Say, though, Hell Angel, if you're experienced with chipsets and feel you could fix the flaws in mine, I can PM you the chipsets and you can have at it.

Anyway, I decided to add trees. I kept them in autumn tones to keep with the steampunk color scheme at least:

I could sure as Hell try. Send them over.

The thing about RM's perspective, though, is you kind of have to conform and use cartoon-dimensions instead of trying to make it as every bit realistic as you can.

...it's not a game, she's displaying a custom chipset and it being used in example maps.

But yeah, I like the small park area. The textures (chips?) and stuff fit well together. And when I say stuff, I mean the walls, trees, etc. Decor. XD

Don't support everything on beams, use other platforms to assist in holding up the paths. have them intersect at points. If you are, then don't have them so high. Even throw in a few buildings that use other buildings' roofs as support. I just don't see using supports that long. If one of them breaks, then that entire section goes down, using other structures as support gives a more stable look and creates several tiny alleyways the player can explore.

More critique on your mapmaking skills than the chips, but better be told now than later.

The chips themselves look great, except for the oddly colored boxes and the houses.

Well, it's not supposed to be practical, Ed, it's supposed to be cool!

Okay, so thanks to the wonderful help of Hell Angel, we managed to fix some of the issues with the protruding parts of the buildings. Observe!

Also added pointy things (I don't know what they're called...) that you can add to the tops of buildings, as shown here. Ignore the weird shrubbery, I tend to go nuts and draw all over whenever I make a new tile.

Yes, Lucas, more balconies you can't get to.

Next I shall make a few outdoor animations, such as wind turbines for the treehouse.
