Chapter I - Lumena

Premise



     Now-a-days people travel the dirt roads made a century ago when the world was flourishing with life.  After the Great Fires of 1247, the planet became dark, and full of thieves, murderers, and terrorists.  Travelers are individuals that make their life wandering about town to town, working different jobs to survive.  Towns are far apart, and isolated in most areas.  Robur is a 23 year old traveler who began traveling when his fiancé, Lumena mysteriously disappeared after a suspicious earthquake.  He searches for her, and any information that could help him.

5792 O.W. - Gea Empire spans the known globe
5394 O.W. - Gea Empire falls
4938 O.W. - Kingdom of Kine established
3203 O.W. - Art of Magic discovered
2314 O.W. - Ability to control a person's life force is discovered
1243 O.W. - Kingdom of Miax established
892   O.W. - Kingdom of Raz established
411   O.W. - Kingdom of Saline established under the rule of Queen Ren
210   O.W. - War between the Kingdoms of Saline and Raz begins
100   O.W. - War between Saline and Raz ends, 1,200 dead, 2,200 injured
90     O.W  - War breaks out everywhere due to droughts and disasters
0       N.W. - Wars end, life begins again, world declares new age
25     N.W. - Colony of Linle established by Saline
140   N.W. - Colony of Linle gains independence, the Kingdom of Miax separates into the Kingdoms of Min and Ore
300   N.W. - Great Floods destroy the small kingdom of Hai, Kingdom of Crog established
733   N.W. - Great Library of Fi opened
855   N.W. - Duel Towers erected for keeping of prisoners in Linle
1023 N.W. - Prosperity begins all over the world.
1247 N.W. - Great Fires, half of the world's cities destroyed,  World falls into chaos,  Prisoners released from earthquake at Duel Towers, kingdom governments hang on by a thread
1534 N.W. - Recovery has started from the Great Fires of 1247 N.W
1753 N.W. - Travelers are fewer, but still common, Duel Towers being rebuilt, disappearance of Lumena




Beginning Storyline
The game starts with the disappearence of Lumena.  Next, we see Robur, one year exactly from Lumena's disappearence.  His birthday.  He finds a mysterious character about to take on a large winged creature himself.  He has a black mark covering part of his face.  Robur, seeing what is going on, is dragged into the battle.  The character reveals his name to be Vihr (A new spelling).  They go to the nearest town of Min's pub and inn and get to know eachother.

Robur:
Age: 23
Date of Birth: July 1731
Fighting Style: Sneak - Air
Starting Equipment: Knife, Traveling Cloak
Description: Searching for his missing fiancé, he lives the life of the average Traveler.  Son of the King of Saline, he was to marry Lumena in only a few days when the earthquake hit.  He was visiting her when it hit.  After being unconscious, he wakes to find her room destroyed and Lumena missing.

Lumena:
Age: 22
Date of Birth: January 1732
Fighting Style: Magic - Light
Starting Equipment: White Gloves
Description: Disappears after a suspicious earthquake hits her parent’s mansion.  She is the daughter of a wealthy politician in the Saline government.  She was tutored by the great Magnificat, a powerful wizard in Saline.  


Vihr:
Age: 27
Date of Birth: February 1727
Fighting Style: Strength - Darkness
Starting Equipment: Leather Gloves
Description: Joins Robur on his search after he discovers he has nothing to loose.  7 years ago, Vihr’s brother stole a beautiful gem from an ancient woman in their town of Tine.  She revealed herself to be a beautiful goddess.  Vihr took the blame and was cursed.  It slowly eats at him, until he can regain the goddess’s trust.

Age: 19
Date of Birth: April 1735
Fighting Style: Earth - Plants

Description: A girl who has an exceptional talent to communicate with plants.   She has lived in Araío for all of her life.  As a child, she worked in her mother’s flower shop in the small village of  Vine.  At a young age she lost her innocence by her uncle. Her father disappeared at the same time as Lumena.  He was a high ranking officer in the Araíon military.

Age: 18
Date of Birth: May 1736
Fighting Style: Mech - Lightning
Starting Equipment: Wrench
Description: A girl who builds machines to do her bidding. She’s been inventing things since she was three years old. Until recently, she’s lived with her parents, never knowing of her siblings’ whereabouts. However, she’s begun to travel the world in search of her brother, Alphonse, and sister, Sarah.

Alphonse:
Age: 31
Date of Birth: March 1723
Fighting Style: Weaponry - Earth
Starting Equipment: Axe
Description: A man searching for his family. He left his home when he was 20 years old to search for his sister, Sarah, who was kidnapped at that time. He left Isabella with his mother and father. He has been searching for 11 years and still has had no luck in finding her.

Mellissa:
Age: 27
Date of Birth: June 1727
Fighting Style: Militaristic - Air
Starting Equipment: Sword
Description: A mysterious woman. She remains distant from all members of the party. This is especially noticeable toward Robur and Alphonse. She was a lover to Alphonse and once served as a soldier under Robur’s family before she resigned for unknown reasons.

Roselana:
Age: 21
Date of Birth: August 1971
Fighting Style: Fire
Starting Equipment: Claw
Description: A Non-human species, Lupine, often called a fire beast for her color. Once human, she was kidnapped and taken to a government facility wherein she underwent genetic manipulation against her will. After these events, she destroyed the facility and has no recollection of memory before her seventeenth birthday.

Sarah:
Age: 17
Date of Birth: December 1737
Fighting Style: Water
Starting Equipment: None
Description: Intelligent (and endowed) well beyond her age. She is often hounded by men for obvious reasons.  Alphonse's youngest sister.

What's new?
Graphics for all but Cura are new.  As well as the battle sprites for all of the characters, not to mention the four characters augenauf brought to the game.  Also, there are a few battle systems implemented, and an Alchemy system is planned.  (Flower shop... hm...)  There are a few more things that go here... hm...

[6/21/10]Progress IS being made, if it is slow.  I started on the dungeon that I believe will end the first demo.  There are still a few plotholes I need to repair after I failed to remember something about a forest and a burning tree. -.-"  Also, you can check out the most recent updates via our website (link in the first post).  It is much more updated than this topic.  Actually, this topic is missing quite a lot. O.o

I will admit, your choice of battle sprites is kind of odd looking.
Other than that, this looks damn good.

I know.  "Simple, yet elegant".  Not really, but you get my point.

Also, notice there is more than one screenshot this time! =D  The screen I had in the other topic is still in the game, but had Robur's outdated sprite, so I figured I'd leave it out for now.

Actually, yes. -.-"  You should see Cura's full standing animation.  It looks like there's a tornado. o.o, but no, the battlers are just edits, some of them very time consuming edits, some not.

Animations and charsets, but other things are appreciated. =P  Animations since I'm not using battlecharsets but Battle2 animations.  Augenauf is doing a lot of it, but... he's still not that experienced in making them.  Also, that was the idea for Cura. ;)

So far, the only charset I've done by hand is Robur's new one, but eventually they all will be.
