What can I do to make it less box factory...ish?

I hate only being able to see everything in event mode.

Don't line your houses up in rows. Look at how your houses are lined up, if they form a box perimeter, that's bad. You can fix that by simply moving a few houses left or right, up or down. Make your houses differ in design from one another. It doesn't have to be anything drastic, simple is sometimes the best.

Looks really nice dude. It's a shame that that is one of the maps I lost.

Maybe someone will comment on my new dead people. It's my favorite four dead people that I've made.

1st Favorite: Upper right, guy that got torn appart by vines. Is animated, he moves up and down while the vines move.
2nd Favorite: Upper Left, girl hung by vines, though you can't see the rope in the shot :/
3rd Favorite: Lower Left, dude with split head. Is animated, blood drips from his "little" wound.
4th Favorite: Lower Left, girl with vines popping out her head. Animated as well.

If you're thinking: "That's sick." or something similar, good. That's what I want people to think.

I don't comment much, but man I gotta say, your work is astounding Meis. The mood you're trying to create in those screens is presented beautifully man, awesome job. I will admit that the large blood fountain is a 'little' clashy with the chipset, but to be honest it kind of should stick out; so you should be good. The dead people are great by the way, my favorite is the guy being torn from the vines as well. Sweet work.  _ghost_

No, the textures were ripped from some PS2 game, other than the building. I converted them into usable tiles, and re-sized a few XP graphics as well, then put them all together for this tileset. It was a pain to do, because of RM2K3's limitations.

The building looks pasted on. You should find a way to soften or harden the edges so that it looks it was there to begin with. Also, the weather effect sandstorm is horrible in my opinion. If you want the effect of sand, try using an overlay.
