Kinda sad, because I still have a lot of anger for you and your ever-so-slightly ignorant generalizations (Well, that and all the hate that was there before[PS I really don't particularly like Cap'n Crunch, but it was a good opportunity for a bit of humor so I took it. Cereal in general sucks.])

I'm fairly sure there's no law against saying the government sucks in England, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Norway, etc. etc. A large number of the world's countries employ the concept of Free Speech. In addition, it is actually quite difficult to get a political position to change something in the government without decided that you are going to spend a good amount of your life working your way up the political ladder, serving constituents and helping out other politicians until you become another player in a huge partisan war that encourages voting on party lines.

Our government is far from perfect(So is everyone else's, for that matter). Doesn't mean we suck, but holding ourselves higher than everyone else is a bit much. Well, more than a bit.

God bless America.
If you disagree then you can geeett out![/souf park]
You can't condemn a country because of an incompetent leader.
Your whole 'raping his own freedoms' thing is a little weird, because freedom is uh, not being accepted, but being tolerated.
I'm in sort of a lucid state of mind right now, so this post may look like a lot of scattered thoughts..
but.. cap'n crunch is awesome.. sure it's a little too sugary.. and cuts the roof of your mouth.. but it's still delicious..
also, who knows how many indents are on a golf ball? I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

MUAY POINT IS.. Japan is not as good as America in some aspects(ie, the people), but they have some great areas too(fud, hoverboards, talking refridgerators).

I'm fairly sure there's no law against free speech in South Africa, China, Cambodia, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Laos, etc, etc. But that still doesn't mean it's a smart idea. A large number of nation's still have oppressive regimes, and until all nations in the world are free, freedom of thought, speech and expression is still a luxury that shouldn't be taken for granted.

I never said political position, I said position of influence which can cause changes. Martin King never had political power, but through his actions he was able to create changes he believed were needed over time. You have the freedom to work for change, but it requires just that: work, and one of the major downsides I will freely admit about America is that we don't WANT to work. We have become a nation where instant gratification is the standard, and unless it is accomplished in 30 seconds, it is someone else's fault for not being done immediately.

Too many people want reform, but once that 6 to 8 weeks peroid is over they feel that they no longer have to work for it, and that everyone else should continue the work for them. Politics aren't needed for change: It's will power, something we are bereft of.

I hate:
People who think Japan is the coolest thing to happen to the world. Yes, you like manga. Yes, they make manga. Get over it.

People who think America is the worst thing to happen to the world (mainly because of either Bush, or because its the cool thing to do).
Yes, they have Bush. Yes, you hate bush. Get over it.

Trying to keep up with this format.
I can't keep it up. I won't keep it up. Get over it.

Feminists.
Bitches can't be happy about anything a man does. Opening the door for the lady is an act of looking down because the poor little woman can't do anything by herself. Not opening the door for the lady is a act of SHEER SEXISM. KILL, KILL! What the **** do you want, feminists? Make up your MINDS!

People who play the race card for EVERYTHING.
Seriously. The Jews were holocaust'D, so now everyone has to treat them nicely. The blacks were enslave'D, so now everyone has to treat them nicely. The native Australians (and Americans for that matter) were killed by the thousands and had their land stolen from them, so now everyone has to treat them EXTRA nicely. Generations later and we're all paying for it. I know these are major important historical events, but last I checked I didn't personally kill anyone.

Gaiaworld.
12 year olds + internet = SERIOUS BUSINESS. Someone really needs to DDOS them everyday.

Sweating.
Sure, we evolved (yes, evolved) sweat glands as a cooling system, but why do we have to smell bad while doing it?

Creationism, Intellegent Design, and that one where supposedly the eye had to be made because it couldn't possibly have evolved that way. I think that was actually Intellegent Design.
Sure, I'm probably overstepping boundaries here, but seriously. We have SCIENCE. It explains things, with better answers and more logic than "God did it". Seriously. It's like, God is the excuse for things you don't know or something. "Well I can't quite understand how the appendix has come to be from a mass of cells, so I'll just say God did it. Now to snort some more cocaine bought with this big grant from the government!"

Scientology.
Has nothing to do with science at all! In fact, out of all the religions, this is probably the furtherest from science! However, it is closest to science fiction. Makes you think. Or not.

Religion in general.
Does more harm then good. The Crusades, anyone? Or all (maybe not ALL) the wars in the middle east? Don't get me started on the bible, either. Or those people who take some parts of the bible to extreme lengths, and ignore other parts. IIRC, it mentions things like "women shouldn't talk unless spoken to" and "black people SHOULD be slaves".

****. I go on about a lot of things.
But dayum, that felt good.

You hit the nail on the head. I actually love america for many reasons, but it's not in human nature to go out of their way for others, and I think that many americans just have too much to lose by going against their instincts. Let's face it, global warming, the steady polution of the planet, facts have shown that you're the main contributors by far. Apparently it's not in your economic interest to address these issues >.>

It's weird, I was in America years ago, and your news channels showed little or no news outside America. It made you seem incredibly insular, and conversations with Gary have enforced that. A conversation with an american about pollution or something generally is met by either "Oh dear, oh well", "I don't believe you" or  "I don't care". In fact, the latter is the american attitude on a frightening number of things (I'm looking at you, Rev XD).

My rant isn't soley about America though. I hate each and every individual burning and cutting down the rainforest, be they american or whatever country. Common sense tells me that many people do this because they have no other means to live; but I'm afraid far too many just don't care that the most awesome parts of the world are being killed.

It all ties into the incurable and fatal problem with the world, which ZKX just said. No-one wants to work. I know I don't want to work >.> . Like a river we'll always take the easiest way and that just happens to be right over the top of other people unfortunately. There's a system that has appeared in the world, a social system, although maybe it has always existed- to be looked upon with respect, more often than not you have to put someone else down. Like there's a huge ladder and you have to continually kick the lower people off their rungs to remain in place, or pull the person above you down to take theirs. No-ones going to bother finding another way up if you can stand on other people's heads.

That's why I come to charas, actually. there's a little of that going on, but with a bit of will power you can avoid it.

Soo... that's basically my rant in a mash. There's little things I also dislike but they're unimportant in the general scheme of things.

Actually it isn't religion as such thats the problem. The big problem is religion is usually used to sheild what is really going on. For instance, the Crusades was more a political thing then actually religion. However, they overshadowed the goal of the Holy Lands for the means of taking the precious lands of the Middle Easterns. In addition, many other ploys, wheather political or religious, usually overshadow truths. Iraq for instance, and even other wars overshadow many secret government projects or objectives.

jeez.  what have I done?  started a riot?  where's the assassins?  I'll go all DOOM style on them as they shoot plasma rays and whatnot at me (lol, show's you that they'll never be firing plasma rays at people.  jk jk lol)

all I was saying was that america is not the best country in the world contrary to popular belief.  I wasn't doing anything bad.  according to america, its my right. (unless speak to parents.  jkjk)  so bring on the evil DOOM style assassins, I'm ready.  :vampire:

EDIT: and now I leave for good, cause I'm not going to get myself tied into this, I have better things to do. but one last thing, religion is not stupid infact its just about the most important thing in my life.  I probably could not live without it.

Don't feel bad, Dominancy - we're talking on our own, we don't need you to "Spark a fire" so to speak - you're not that influential yet. Yet. Hard work and you might get there someday.

When people cite Martin Luther King Jr. as an example that anyone can make a difference, it makes me want to bang my head against the table, because my stance is this: Martin Luther King Jr. was an excellent public speaker. He had the ability to change the minds of thousands of people because he knew what to say and when to say it. I, on the other hand, don't. I abhor public speaking; my gift is in programming, so why can't I do that instead?

My ideas of a better society coming true would be nice, but it's not as important (And does not have as likely a success rate) as following my natural gift and becoming a good programmer. The logic is that my chances at being a programmer are way better for me than my chances at starting a public movement on *anything*.

As for ZeroKirby, my point was that you pushing America above every other country because "We have free speech and anyone can change stuff if they try hard" is a bullshit reason because there's a large amount of countries in the world where you can do the same thing.

I love this thread. Especially Razor's and Archem's posts.

If there is one thing I don't like, it's when a nerd is EXTREMELY nerdy, and he feels like he has to drag you down because
A.) You're nice to him.
B.) You have similar interests.

Here's one situation. I sit next to this kid in history. He found out I like videogames from one of my English teachers.

He insists on other people calling him "Dragoon," his entire clique of nerds tried to start an entire videogame club and went around the school cosplaying to advertise it, he tries WAY to hard to be funny and ends up being extremely annoying, he smells, he is really fat and he and his friend don't even play in PE (I once saw him playing Yu-Gi-Oh in Gym Class Basketball WTF?), and what's worse is that he's advertising to people that we're friends just because I'm a little nerdy too.

I don't even know this kid's last name. Even if I don't call him a nerd and try to be nice to him, he's not that great of a guy. He whines a lot, he's conceded (that's an oxymoron), and I just don't like the guy.

I hate cliques. I always try to have friends that are different from me. It's just annoying...

This is exactly why America kicks ***. Not cause the leaders or trash or anything, because we're disrespectful and dont give a **** about other countries opinions. Thats one badass mother****er of a country if you as me. Im completely serious when I say that. I dont even support the war or any of this. Infact I dont like bush either. But all these countries told us to not go to war. What did we do? Went to war. Once again, I dont support it, but that takes some serious scrotum fillers. And pricks like you have been saying **** like that since the beginning of time, yet we dont care. Im gunna assume you live in America, yet you're calling yourself german. It doesent work like that. You LIVE in America. You're just as American as you are German. Except guess what, YOU'RE NOT JAPANESE. JAPAN DOESENT WANT YOU FAGS. You're exactly the type of person I was talking about.

Besides, you're a Nazi.(Joke)

Sorry for any anger, but its a rant thread. Get off my back.

Saying that because other countries have it makes my reason bullshit, is, ironically enough, bullshit. Sure, a large number of countries have it, but on the other side of that coin a large number don't. I don't push America above other countries for any reason, I'm not that arrogant. Just because I give a reason that a country is great doesn't mean I'm pushing it above all others.

Germany makes the best sausage! O NOES! I JUST PUSHED GERMANY UP BECAUSE OF IT'S SAUSAGE!

Japan is great because of it's technological advancements! O NOES! I JUST PUSHED JAPAN UP BECAUSE OF IT'S COMPUTERS!

That's pretty much what you're saying I'm doing, which may I add, is bullshit.
-----------------
Moose, maybe if you would stop looking at everything word for word and possibly think beyond what is written, you would understand that by using MK as an example, I obviously didn't mean you can ONLY be a speaker. Try and find implications, the point was that if you work hard enough and try to put yourself in a position that can create change, you can do it. You're a programmer, fine. PROGRAM SOMETHING. Be it a video, animation, virus, whatever. All you have to do is discover the best way to go about it and WORK AT IT.

If your goal is to become a programmer with no intention of envoking change, then stop complaining. You are further enforcing what I say to be an evdential truth: You want change, but don't want to work for it yourself. If you aren't willing to work for changes you complain and think should be made, stop complaining. It's the same as me whining and telling everyone I'm hungry. I could easily cook food, but I don't, yet I still continue to whine about being hungry. That's bullshit.

On a more serious note, I feel many people who believe in this are misunderstood, and also that many people who believe don't understand exactly why they believe it. Indeed, there are many people like the ones you describe, who are looking for a how and can't figure it out so they say "God did it."

Well, I hope this doesn't sound too controversial or egocentric, but I take a world religions class in school, and I feel my teacher is at such a higher level than this school of thought and that I am at least close to that too. To quote my teacher, "Sometimes one needs a good story more than food to survive." Now, at this point you may be thinking, "WTF is he talking about and how does that relate?" And you are correct in thinking so, at this point.

If we look at history and the role religion has played in it, it may include what you were talking about because science wasn't so advanced at the time. But also included is purpose. Purpose isn't so much the how, but the why. I respect science and find that the discoveries made in it are often invaluable, but I seperate sciene from religion. They just aren't the same, and people too often attempt to put them on the same plain. I use religion as a catalyst to channel my being and feeling into a form that I can comprehend. What matters to me is not if I can explain it to other people, but that I can believe it. If I can explain anything it's explaining that I find a way to explain to myself, and you can too. I won't get into this any further, as I could go on much longer with ways to reveal yourself to yourself.

I consider this on topic enough because I was ranting about what I don't like about people who strongly side with religion or science.
