Mayor of Charas Elections 2: This time, it's for real.

Alright, you guys know the drill. Phayre's term as mayor has been arbitrarily decided as over. As of now, the mayor term will be 2 months or whenever we remember, whichever comes later. If you're very confused, check the old thread to find out the history and role of the Charas mayor.

Application as mayor is open to any and all members, but no staff members (Phayre may run for reelection). This time around, a few things have changed:

• This time we're going to allow staff to vote. It's an experimental thing for now.
• Ballots will be private this time - we'll figure out someone to send PMs to to cast your vote.
• People applying as mods may also run as mayor. If they are elected before being chosen as mods, they will be made mayor, but if they are made mod before being elected, they will be out of the running.

Campaign time is from now until next Friday, which will be when voting begins.

My first question to potential candidates: What do you plan to do to make the mayor position useful? Contests? Creative projects? Random spamming?

I'll apply. Being the all time most active (or second most active, one or the other) member of Charas history, I believe that I well deserve the title. As for what I would do with it, I would most likely bring back the "Post a screenshot" and "Write a short story" contests. I've also been scanning gamingw.net for quite some time and I've found other contests that have gone well over there that could be easily mimic'd here. I would also like to try a "Make the best signature" contest, seeing as a lot of people here are good with spriting and photoshop.

The old contests died out due to lack of entrants, but I think that won't be a problem now that we have some new members (or at least members that I don't remember).

Now, to answer your excellent question, Osmose...

With the position, I plan to give y'all people more of an incentive to work toward this site's purpose to serve as... Well, the forum of an RM2k character generator site. That said, I very well might start up some contests that pertain to the spirit of game making and had occurred in the past, and also make sure they get finished! Ones such as the "Worst Game Contest", "Mapping Contests", and other such related contests.

Creative projects. Well, I got the Alpha Force production going on, and perhaps some extra encouragement could spark me up to do some sort of little side project even.

And finally, your Spam point. Mayor can serve as a sort of 'scout' for the higher-ups, keeping a watchful eye on threads or posts that have spiraled out of control. Just in case nobody with power is on while the mayor is, or if the mods have just passed over an offending thread or post without noticing, an extra pair of eyes can perhaps give the more powerful staff a heads-up.

I will not be going for re-election. Perhaps at some point in the future I will run again, but not this time. Question is, who will the first mayor endorse?
So far, my official endorsement is for Bluhman. But the day is young, so who knows? Meiscool, although an important member, has frequent disappearing acts.
