I don't know what you're talking about... squareness. Ha! I could only found 6 easy to spot square formations in that 20X15 tiled map. That's clearly not enough to be thought of as being square. I completely understand elementalhero76 and how he can't seem to comprehend why his map might be squarish. Then again, I'm an idiot.

Pen's rock. Remember that. So does the shift key while mapping, but not in inane suplements.

It looks cool, espeically the water, but I've got two problems with it.

First, you used the auto tile for the cave "roof" in some places. That makes the tops look squared off, I don't like that much. Second, you've got a waterfall that looks like it's going down, and then you've got ground right next to it that's flat leading to both the top and the bottom. Elevation issues I guess you could say.

pens? I know the shift key thing but I think I tried that already it may be the tile.

Edit: oh pencil! ok! But it still messes up even with the shift key. the waterfall can't be helped. Now what do I do?

Practise and not post screens anymore, thus saving our eyes from bleeding.

Okay, the map Im about to post was put together rather quickly. Its from a new chipset Ive made,
And I need input

Now, the map is glitchy right now, its an experimaental map.
My advice required is as such

Ive got the chips drawn up for all of this stuff, as you can see. But I have no Autotiles as of yet.

Now, the use of autotiles is inevitable, but I do plan on using Panoramas as well.

How I would do this is as such:

Im going to have a panoramic background of on repeating tile, in this map that tile would be grass.

I would make other autotiles for things like a path, and long grass tufts and such.

Now, aside from needing a shading of some sort to help with the change from grass to tree line, Im wondering...
Suggestions?

Im already workiong on shadows....

Autotiles always are a pain.
Any suggestions for autotiles to make this work better?
Other suggestions?
(Aside from OMG nub, you suck at maps, because I dont, Im trying to debug the concept of my chipset, and as such, didnt make a pretty map, just a functional one)

Keep in mind, the charset grows and shrinks in perspective, like in FF7,8,9 etc....I just dont have the script properly tweaked for my systems yet

It's not bad at all, but that auto tile is pretty bad. It wouldn't be as bad if it more 3d-esque as the rest of the chipset. I'd love to see how the perspective thing works. It seems like you're on your way, I unfortunately don't have any ideas for the auto tile problem though.
