That's a really cool isometric castle. I can recognize the top of the walls from RCT, but that doesn't really matter. It still looks very nice. Almost looked like an FFT rip for a second to me.

I was wondering if anyone saw that pic. It doesn't matter. Thank you for the comment anyway.

I forgot to mention that you can climb on the cliffs, and that the battle doesn't just take place on one map, but yes I will open the maps up. Comments were appreciated. :)

For your picture question Meis, yes (for both games actually). I saw that topic in the Programming section. I decided to use it for a "Custom Movement System" in FFR that uses pictures.

It's coming along well, but I'm using this game for extra practice before I finish the other. Since there are no real NPCs or anything, I figured this would be good.

The only collision detection in this game I'd have to worry about would be the bosses, the map, and the AI girl who follows you around.

With FFR, I want NPCs, and over/underpasses and stuff. That takes layering and a little more effort.

Edit.
Didn't see you Bluhman. If you squint you can see Tactics Ogre shaped indents. Is that why it looks like FFTactics?

Just a little test map for some custom grapics I'm making for the hell of it. I don't really plan on taking these anywhere other than just to practice. The benches aren't custom, I'm still making other objects, so yeah this is a work in progress, I suppose.

Yes. Your screens suck. RTP in general doesn't look very good. You should use different chipsets and read a tutorial about mapping. Quit using emotes, they make you look gay. Shutup already.

aboutsoandthis and meiscool I find your screen shots inspiring so if you guys could post more that would be pimp, phat, and also dope.

Oh I guess I could post some of my own screen shots.

My RPG, "The DOTH Scriptures", takes place in a modern-day era so it's quite difficult to find adequate chipsets and charsets.

On with the show!

The outside maps of my game have what I call the "Mario RPG effect", where the land is suddenly cut off into nothingness, making the player feel as though they are on a game board or something. I think it's fun and different but can sometimes be stifling when designing a map.

This is the interior of the main character's house. Nothing special.

And here is the yard. Again, nothing special.

Here is a mini-game that appears throughout the game. I call it the "Intense Convo system". When the person you're talking to says anything, you get one of three options for answers. One answer will move the yellow bar in your favour, one will move in the opponent's favour, and one option will have no effect on the bar.

Here's part of a dream sequence at the beginning of the game.

Here's a battle scene I am reluctant to post because I am redoing the battle sprites to be much more grandiose.

People like my mapping. w00t.

I like them. I'm glad your screens look kind kind of "happy" even though you're using Theodore. I'm tired of seeing those chipsets used in horror games.

My biggest fear here is that you're mixing up sprite styles. The maps are okay, but some of the sprites don't really match. Like in that screenshot of the yard, I see refmap, theodore, tales of phantasia, etc. They're matching to me so far, so it's just a fear.

I don't like that bottom screen with the box looking parts on the top. This is your game board look?

I don't know what else to comment on. I'll leave Meis to this since...he kind of taught me.

I like your houses too.

Oh don't worry. ...

I'm really anal about consistency when it comes to tiles and charsets.

And as for the last screen shot, I'm not sure how I will present battle backgrounds. I'm tired of the same old "scenic background lols" so I'm going to for something different (continuing with the "game board theme")... but I just haven't decided on what yet.

Um, Im posting a new screen. Ive been playing with my graphics Tablet....And I started making Black and grey Graphics. So I experimented with Monochrome tiles. This is the product. Im going to switch pretty much the whole project into Black and Grey, and only use color in a few parts, for dramatic effect....Schindlers list style.

I hope you enjoy it. Ive still got some tweaking to do, and thats why Im only posting the one.

Please, Input Input input (as long as its constructive)

It would look a lot nicer in color, but it's your choice.

Those plants look like tats. Did you use some of your tat art to make these?

Looks real good BTW. Great for custom.
