Your screenshots are pretty nice, Wella. They're the sort of maps that strike a good balance between how good they look and how long they take to create. They're so generic it hurts, but if you're fine with that you could make a good looking game.

Watch out for the trees in that forest screen, though. They're supposed to have trunks.

Thanks, Moosetroop. To be honest, I'm not really sure how to make them less 'generic'. I know exactly what you mean, though. Tips? As for the trees, I realized that after I done it. I'm not brilliant with those kind of tree tiles either. I'll give it a shot to get me some practice, anyway.

In the meanwhile:

A tavern! With added Y'arr!

Edit: So many screenshots! You guys can't keep up!

This one took a little longer. I.e. 5 minutes instead of 3.

Edit again: This is getting ridiculous. Somebody stop me!

Emilia, the wandering mage maid, reads a somewhat ominous sign. By the way, does anyone have any quick tips on lighting? I don't mean the tint screen sort, I'm talking overlays and cool shadowy stuff. Is it just a case of making a picture to suit the map and placing it on top?

Edit once more: Okay, I promise this is the last time I'll edit this post. That doesn't mean the screenshots will stop coming though. Muahaha.

A peaceful, innocent, night-time scene with our very own green-haired, adventure-seeking barmaid who wears her apron everywhere.

Nice screen shots wella. Little empty in some spots but not bad. I love that font you have, real sharp!

Thanks! I'll try not to leave too much empty space. Ideas?

Honestly? Just the tavern really, space use is not an issue anywhere else. Everything else is just fine, your mapping skills are good.

To be honest, the only map I thought was suffering from slight space problems was the desert wasteland, with the prison at the bottom half.

I'll edit this post in a minute with a screenshot or four.

You know I was thinking that this topic was a little too inactive too. I was going to post somthing to help liven it up a little, but then I realized I realy had nothing in progress. Then I worked on "Fish's Chain Game" and this was the result.

Here's a game play video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWIa1YPHXfk

The game is coded in C++.

Note: The player lacks a hit box in the video. Or rather it has one but it's way off.

Fisherson: Looks really good, man. But I agree with Lucas, the RTP doors don't exactly fit in. Other than that, nice one.

Red Fox: Looks interesting. Nice work. :D

I love the poster fish. :P

The RTP door does not matches it too well though.

A matching door sprite can be found yonder here.

I like that AoA reference, Fish.  Also, your room looks pretty sweet.  I think you should at least try to find some of those same objects without outlines, though.  They kind of clash with the environment.
